Booking opened this morning through April. Booked a one way, wanna get away fare, the Saturday after Mardi Gras, from Orlando to Nola, for $250 ea. All wanna get aways for that day now say sold out. Can I expect the price to come down/more wanna get away fares to be added, or was today’s fare probably the best deal that they will offer? Tried to find a fare tracking app for Southwest, but apparently that doesn’t exist.

That’s high as shite. Always book southwest when they do their sales. You’ll get round trip under $200 a person easily.

in my experience, even if it says sold out, they do often times reappear...sometimes higher, sometimes lower

i did the same as you to book round trips to orlando mardi gras week when booking opened a month or so ago....my flights have gone up a lot too, but I still continue to check, because they have dropped for me in the past

eta: you flying out of new orleans? march 9?

i see one way nonstops to MCO for 160 at morning or afternoon

That is really high. Its always good to book southwest right off the back though, because you can always monitor and cancel/rebook later.

But....the Orlando route is one that I would never fly via southwest. Spirit and Frontier both offer $24 one way non stop tickets frequently to Orlando. I booked one for $48 ROUNTRIP for my daughter and I to do a one day Universal studios not long ago and they had the same prices for September when I checked a few days ago.

For booking just opening up those prices are sky high, I am trying to book a return flight from Orlando on Saturday.

Orlando to New Orleans on March 9. Flight there was under $100. Couldn’t book the return until today when the window opened. Figured it would be a little higher, but not 2-1/2 times more. I assume they had a lot of people book flights there during the week of mg, and knew they would want flights back the following weekend.

Keep watching it. If it drops rebook then cancel these tickets. You will not lose the money but will have that amount waiting to send on another Southwest trip. We do that a couple of times a year.

I booked the morning they opened flights for December (MSY-MCO). Told my dad and he didn't book their flights until that evening and the prices had more than doubled.

Be patient. I have been stalking Thanksgiving fares roundtrip from New Orleans to Orlando and finally yesterday I got the flights for $220 per person. Each leg of the flight was $110, down from $330 that it was stalled at for the longest.

I never see “good” deals on MSY to DEN flights. Do these ever come up?

Lowest I’ve seen is about 140 one way

SW flights are always cheapest on Tuesdays and booking right when the window opens often gets a bad deal.

Look at the option of doing it as a round trip now that you have the dates, etc.... and if you can do it, CANCEL the original one-way.

I looked at RT and it’s more expensive. It looks like on southwest price is based on ea leg of the flight. For the return flight, I keep the tab on my work computer and check it most days. There are four nonstop return flights that day. One is completely sold out - wanna get away, anytime, and business. Two are showing only anytime left at $362, and one has anytime and business. Even if they add some wanna get away fares, I don’t think it will be less than what I paid, but I keep checking.
