Prague/Budapest/Vienna

So I found an amazing deal that includes round trip airfare and 9 nights in Prague/Budapest/Vienna (3 nights in each city). Need to book by November 6th to get the current pricing so the wife and I are just wondering what time of year to go. We have never been to Europe before so this would be all new to us. After doing a little research online it seems like either the Spring or the Fall would be best. Summer is busier with more people and would be more expensive. And we would like to avoid the bitter cold in the winter.
Does anyone here have any experience traveling to any of these cities and can provide some guidance on the time of year to travel, and any fun activities? I know we would like to visit the Mucha museum in Prague, and one of the many museums in Vienna that features Klimt's artwork, but other than that we don't really have anything planned as of yet. Just looking to get some ideas.
Also, is anyone familiar with a phone plan to use while in these areas? We have AT&T.
Thanks in advance.

$10/day is not bad at all, thank you!

That all depends on the time of year. I've priced it for March around $2,000 for the two of us and that includes round trip airfare and all of the hotels.
I also priced it for late April-May and it came out to be around $2600 for the two of us.
These prices are only locked in until Nov. 6th according to the Travelzoo website.
Flying out of IAH.

So the $2000-$2600 doesn’t include travel between the cities? I’m not so sure this is a great deal. Is the airfare into/out of the same city? Or are you flying into one city and then back home from another? You need to look at travel times and costs for intra city travel and return to airport. Just three days in 3 diff places is not my cup of tea. I’d rather spend 4 in one, 5 in another. Give yourself time to get over jet lag, learn a new place, and relax/enjoy yourself.
Figure $600/ea for airfare, that leaves $130/night for hotel rooms. Are you comfortable with having zero control over the hotels included in this deal? That’s not something I’m comfortable doing, I want to pick my own hotels.

My parents did this exact same trip and loved it, other than my dad having a heart attack in the middle of Prague and almost dying.
Prague doctors saved his life, and the agency they went through the trip with hooked them up with flights home after a month of him being in the hospital.
Mom loved the trip, Dad wasn’t a fan.

So my wife and I did our honeymoon at these places last December. Tho cold, the Christmas markets are unbelievable. I now no longer look forward to Christmas back in the states ha. Also it’s wayyyy cheaper that time of the year.
But an FYI even though you didn’t care about the winter

Some of the most amazing cities in Europe. I personally think any time of the year is great. If you can go during the "Christmas Market Season" it's magical. Not all that cold really. Winter travel is a unique and magical experience. You don't have the crowds. Cheaper.
Some good advice here. I'll add that we really like https://mydaytrip.com/. Have hired several drivers and have found that it's cheaper than train travel. Plan on doing it for our trip next year again.

We're going to Prague and Budapest in November. We're taking an overnight train in between the cities. Hotels are inexpensive in both cities.

The prices I listed include everything related to all travel and hotels, that INCLUDES the travel between the cities. Fly into Prague, stay 3 nights, fly to Budapest, stay 3 nights, train ride to Vienna, stay 3 nights and then fly back to IAH from Vienna.
And you can choose your hotels. You even have the option of upgrading to 4 star hotels for an extra ~$70. Really great deal if you ask me. 3 nights in each city would be just enough for the two of us, I think. Especially since we've never been. I love the fact that we'd experience all 3 cities in one trip. Now if we absolutely fall in one love with one city THEN we'd go back for a longer visit like maybe a full week.

Hi! T-Mobile has incredible global pricing- free text and date/ calls 25 cents/min (free if you do WiFi calling). I would suggest mid-May. Any lingering winter weather should be gone, and the gardens will be in full bloom. Fun activities? The Kunsthistoriches in Vienna is up there with the Louvre and Prado as a first class museum of art/history. Taking the ferry from Vienna to Bratislava for a day trip is fun and very worth it (6 hours in Bratislava is fine). The Vienna Zoo is extensive and enjoyable to walk around (they sell honey from their own hives in a vending machine and one of the restaurants offers fine aged cheeses). The House of Terror in Budapest is heavy, but an absolute must do. The Fina Arts Museum, newly renovated, is also quite nice. Check out the KGB museum in Prague.

That’s sounds amazing. I do have one suggestion. I took an overnight from Prague to Vienna, and the train staff in Prague seemed like communist leftovers- meaning, it was hard to find the platform and my stateroom. My advice is get there very early, and don’t encumber yourself with too much luggage. Happy travels!
