Years ago I stayed there when it was the Hilton. That was early 90s.

Looking for a weekend with the wife in late August, within driving distance, and somewhere I can let my fat burn for a day or so.

It was mentioned on here a few weeks ago. Seems as though it’s a nice enough place, but they are damn proud of it. LOL

For a couples trip and if you weren’t looking to go to 30A, it seems like there is or the Beach Club are good options

I thought it was pretty terrible when I was there for a conference, but this was at least 15 years ago. Maybe it has improved since then.

It's probably been about 10 years for me. I mean, it's just a decent rather basic hotel right on the beachfront. It's not really the type of place I would actively seek out for more than a 2-3 night stay, but it's perfectly fine if that's all you are looking for without dealing with a bunch of other stuff and a big family type trip.

Hard to see what anyone would see as "terrible" about it, understanding what it is.

My perception was skewed because we had previously held this same conference at a few other gulf coast resorts that all blew Perdido out of the water in almost every category. But the biggest issue for our attendees was the lack of chairs poolside every day we were there. Many attendees brought their spouses and kids, and if you weren't out at the pool by 7 or 8 to put towels out, you weren't getting a chair. Some opted for the beach and didn't experience that problem, but as someone that worked for the agency putting on the conference, I had people complaining to me the entire time we were there. We had signed a 2-year deal with them, and pulled the second year before leaving town.

It may be fine for a just a short family trip, and it's possible they've improved things since then.

Avoid the crowds. Stay at Beach Club in Ft Morgan.

Just go to the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear. It's a great place and near Fairhope.
And your westbank arse will be just fine laying on the beach getting sun on the Mobile Bay.

Always my recommendation when someone asks about places near Gulf Shores/Perdido.

But I did stay at the Perdido Beach Resort 8 years ago, and it was a fine time. I was starting a new job, same one I have now, and wasn't going to get to take any time off for 90 days. My start date was the last week of April, so we're looking at all of May and June, and most of July, prime beach season. We booked a trip. They were running a special, since it was after spring break but before school got out. Pay for 3 nights, stay 5 nights. Still sort of expensive for what it was, a decent hotel room near the beach, with no kitchen or anything to cook in like a condo, but it was a fun week.

We actually always stay at Grand pointe right next to it every Memorial Day holiday. Every time we see PBR, we always wonder why people stay there. Same basic chairs outside and balcony’s do not look comfortable at all.

You may have already left... I've stayed there MANY times. I've been to Orange Beach well over 50 times... lost count.

I do NOT like the PBR. Others may could comment on the condos. Many of my trips there were based around work travel, with many conferences with held there. I've stayed at HGI, HI, and others. Nothing that I recall blew me away, just ok. Have not been in a while. Not sure about newer stuff.

It is right next to the jetties by that inlet so the water is crap right there. full of seaweed and junk.
