I'm working on the paperwork for my passport (never had one) but have to turn in TODAY to our group travel leader my legal full name that will be placed on my passport. (whatever name I send MUST be the name used on passport).
I ASSUME that I need to use whatever name is on my drivers license for this as that will be checked at the airport as well?? Sorry if this is "basic" but I don't want to screw it up. Thanks.
(I know I need my birth certificate to get the passport BUT considering I'm married, what name is on my license is proof of my "legal" name? Yes, I'm overthinking this I'm sure but don't want to have to correct anything at a later date.)

An airport won’t check your license if you give them a passport, so the name on the license is inconsequential.
Others can weigh in, but I’ve been using my passport to check in at airports for years. That has always been good enough.

Oh just assumed my license would be needed. So basically I can just put what I want on my passport.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just make sure the name on the flight tickets and the name on the passport match.
Or then you will have a huge problem.

I assume that's why she's asking for what will be on our passport as she's working on airline tickets .. so if I put my first, maiden, married name on both there should be no question, right?

Whatever name is on your Social Security Card is what you should put on your passport application. Your airline ticket will also need to match the passport name.

Probably wise, but mine do not match. Full name is equivalent of James William Jones. Mom sent in for SS card (before all the modern ID hoopla) in the name of Bill Jones. That is what it says to this day.
The guy at OMV wasn't sure it would clear for Real ID, but it did.
Passport is in my full name. Never been an issue with it or elsewhere.

It aint a big deal unless someone is just being an arse, mine gets screwed up pretty regularly.
I work mostly in the Middle East and have seen my name both mangled and transposed in every form and fashion possible by travel agents.

AS someone said...
buy tix with the identical name and possibly same layout as passport
first name, Middle if, and Last
have plane tix filled in the same way.
Most have enough sense to see the name as a whole, others will pick it apart FIELD by FIELD and try to match to passport
...hyphenated last names give the most trouble .. lack of common sense.

If you're a married woman and have LEGALLY changed your last name.
Use your LEGAL name.
Use your LEGAL name.

I've heard Cathay Pacific is the airline that's a hardass on this. Lots of horror stories of folks booking "John M. Smith" but passport says "John Michael Smith" and shitshow ensues.
Haven't heard of any other airline acting like that.

My passport has my full name (including middle) completely spelled out.

As someone said earlier....make sure your flight ticket name and your passport name is an exact match...

So I just booked a ticket to Mexico and neglected to enter my middle name. My passport has first, middle, and last name. Do i have an issue on my hands?

I won't lie I put Jr on my passport which is not on my license and I've never had an issue
