Any recommendations on non-Disney Restaurants? We will have two dinners off site and I am looking for family friendly places.

What side of Orlando are you staying on? We had the same mindset whenever we took our two small kids A few years back, but we were so damn exhausted that we just asked the front desk at the hotel for the closest place that was kid friendly and it worked out great.

Summary: don't overcomplicate meal during the middle of a trip to WDW when you have exhausted parents and kids on your hands.

I don't think they deliver, but that pizza is awesome. Its a kid friendly restaurant as well.

I'm assuming he's looking for suggestions off Disney property.

There are a few reasons I can think of why OP would want something specifically NON WDW but I can't think why Swan and Dolphin would be bad choices so long as he isn't looking for something close to something else off-site.

The ambiance, staff, service, menus, etc all have a different feel than what you would get with WDW but you have the convenience of WDW. Unless UP is looking for something on non park days and had no plans to go to the parks Swan and Dolphin have very good character meals, casual locations and upscale options for dinner as well.

People could help a little more if we knew more specifically what you are looking for. You say 2 dinners offsite. Do you want to completely get off property or do you just not plan to be in the parks for those 2 meals? Because if you are just meaning you won't be in the parks, between Disney Springs and the Resorts, we can recommend tons of places with almost any theme or experience you are looking for. If you want to be completely off property, I'll be pretty much no help.

Swan & Dolphin wouldn't be bad choices. I've heard rave reviews for several restaurants there. I was just going off of his OP where he said "off site." He could just mean "not in the parks." I'll hang up and listen.

Sorry, for not providing more detail. We are going with another couple and each have 2/3 year old's. This is my first time at Disney and I have 6 meals planned on site. We have three character meals (Chef Mickie, Minnie's Hollywood Studios, Tusker) planned while in the park, as well as three none character meals but I was looking for something outside of a Disney Property. The day we are doing animal kingdom we will be doing an early character meal while in the park but planned to be out of the park at 5:30,as the park closes early in January. There is also another night we may want to find something else. With young children I hope they are able to make it through long days but I am not sure and would like to have some options outside. Thanks

Let me ask it like this...when you say outside of a Disney property do you mean just not in a park or nowhere that is operated by Disney or their affiliates?

For example, there is a ton of Disney resort dining that is family friendly (Ohana! or Hoop de Doo Review for example). Then, there is Disney Springs which is technically Disney property but the establishments are not run or managed necessarily by Disney. Then you have the Swan and Dolphin which are also not owned by Disney but are basically between two Disney theme parks and are leased to Disney.

If you're just looking for something family friendly not in a park I'd suggest Ohana, Hoop De Do Review, Raglan Road, Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Whispering Canyon, Splittsville to name a few.

FYI - Chef Mickeys is similar to Ohana in that it is located in a Disney Resort and not actually in the park.

I should say a restaurant not operated by Disney, We do have one dinner at a T-REX in Disney springs.

Any reason why you're trying to get away from Disney-run restaurants? They have MANY great restaurants at resorts all over property that have no characters at all.

Then I'll stick with my Swan and Dolphin suggestion
