Yes, I know I'm asking for lots of trouble, but I'm a glutton for punishment.

My wife (no pics) has a conference in NOLA from March 11-15. 12 year old son is on Spring Break that week and so we decided to tag along. Staying at the Hyatt Regency near the Superdome/Smoothie King Center. Conference is in the hotel. We will have a rental car.

Since she is busy during the day, I'm looking for suggestions on things for the two of us to do.

Lots to do depending on your interests: swamp/airboat tour, fishing trip, zoo/aquarium, WWII Museum, Chalmette Battlefield, etc.

Sloane gave some good ideas.
If the weather is nice, you can go hang out at City Park for part of a day. Cafe Du Monde is there and they have mini golf, paddle boats, bikes, etc.

There is a Dave & Busters right next to where you are staying that isn't all that bad during the day. Also an Ax throwing place.

Take the boy on a street car ride uptown. Get snoballs. Grab a poboy.

Pelicans play a home game on the 13th.

The WWII museum is one of the best in the world. You can easily spend a day there.

They have music at Lafayette Square on Wednesday afternoon.

You can go to the Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day parade that Saturday.

i think they were renovating the aquarium, but maybe it’s done now. The Audubon Zoo is cool as long as the weather isn’t too hot.

Go to Parkway for a po-boy.

Have a good time. Was in NOLA two weeks ago and going back tomorrow. It’s not half as bad as most on this board make it out to be. Most of those people haven’t been in years.

The Aquarium is open again and definitely a place for a 12-year-old. Sculpture Garden in City Park is a great outside space that's free. Rent a kayak in nearby Bayou St John.

The quality of swamp tours is all over the place. One of the oldest and best is LINK /.

If you drive out to Honey Island for a tour, drive on over to the NASA Stennis Space Center in MS. There is a fairly new museum right off I-10.

Walk down Poydras to Decatur and check out Jackson Square for people watching and the street musicians. In the daytime, you'll be safe. Just be back at the hotel before 9 PM.

Audubon Zoo is one of the top zoos in the country IMO.

There is a zipline over the swamp off I-55 near LaPlace.

Be very careful in New Orleans. Be aware of your surroundings. Be careful where you park. Watch everyone closely who is near you.

This happened today. Sadly things like this happened daily in the city. Not only New Orleans but most cities in the USA.
