going for a Boston / Newport anniversary trip in September. We pretty much have Boston planned out thanks to Abita. Looking for Newport recs for dining mainly. TIA

Go to The Mooring for seafood. Highly recommend the lobster donut appetizer.

I enjoyed the mansion tours. Make the antebellum homes along the river look like garages.

Dining:
White Horse Tavern
Clarke Cooke House
Fluke
the Cliff Walk obviously is an attraction and actually gets pretty rugged down on one end. If you want some more fresh air, there's some halfway decent trails in the Norman Bird Sanctuary that ends with a rocky outcrop overlook that is pretty nice.

I have been to Newport once. It was a port on a New England/Canada cruise I took a few years back. (I was on it when Les Miles was fired).
I don't have any dining recs, but the thing I remember doing was walking the Cliff Walk. It is a paved path that runs along the shore. On one side you see the backs of the mansions on what is Newport's version of St. Charles Avenue. The other side features beautiful views of the Atlantic coastline with waves crashing against the rocks.
I would recommend doing this, especially if the weather is nice.
