I am hoping Disney will come back. I know the river cruises are growing as well.

New Orleans is unfortunately getting Mariner of the Seas next year. It’s in the top 10 of RC best rated ships even though she’s over 20 years old. I wish MotS would stay in Galveston.

Why is that unfortunate?

Just my opinion. The ship has been in Galveston for a while, and I’ve become used to it since I’ve sailed on it a few times.

Galveston just recently built a new terminal, they’re going to get another independence class ship if not, something larger like when they got allure of the seas last year.

Adding a larger ship to New Orleans is good for options out of the region without the need to go all the way to Florida or further

The terminal is remarkable and everything is streamlined to get you on the ship as fast as possible. Galveston has two ships from RC. I want to say Freedom of the Seas will take Mariner’s place (Voyager Class) and a different Oasis class ship will take Harmony’s place. Ships don’t stay in the same port forever. RC likes to move them around.

Mobile has the Carnival Spirit as another option

Just got back from Disney out of Ft. Lauderdale and I like the fact that it’s out of Florida. Takes some effort and weeds out the trashy people.

Trashy people are easier to avoid than trashy itineraries. The problem with sailing out of NOLA and even Galveston is it's almost exclusively Western Caribbean.

Sailing out of new Jersey or Boston you can get Nova Scotia, Bermuda, etc. Florida ports can get you to the southern and eastern Caribbean. Tampa has smaller shops because of the bridge but Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Port Canaveral all have mega ships across all cruise lines so sailing from Florida allows for more customization on the ship class, the clientele on that ship and itineraries.

The near five figure cost does that, it has nothing to do with Florida.
