If you’re not absolutely wedded to the idea of the Caribbean, may I suggest Casa Velas in Puerta Vallarta Mexico? Took my wife (no pics$ for our anniversary in 2017.

Highly, highly recommmend. Adults only all inclusive. Direct flight to PV from Atlanta on Delta. They ran a buy 3 get 1 night free on their upper level suites (2 stories, private plunge pool, jacuzzi, etc). About $900 USD a night at the time. Plus we got a special anniversary dinner on the beach and another upscale dinner at their family friendly resort down the road.

ETA: Saw you’re in the Hill country. AA direct from DFW and likely SAT as well.

The wife and I are going to do a Caribbean 5 year anniversary/real honeymoon next year (thanks to Hurricane Maria and Sonoma wildfires).

I’m looking at the Viceroy Sugar Beach in St. Lucia. You can add an all inclusive package at $300/guest per day. I doubt I’ll do that because I like to get off campus and exposure, but that may be something you might like.

Went for my honeymoon earlier this year and 100% recommend it. But don't do all inclusive--you'll get better value by ordering as much of whatever you want.

bullshite. unless you are one of the ones that just wants to drive around the island and go "live like a local" you absolutely can go explore.

The OP said that he'll spend 99% of his time at the resort. Therefore, it's true that there will be minimal differences for him in respect of resorts. His key factors in choosing a place will be accessibility and price.

I also don't get your "live like a local dig". Some of us don't like the idea of limited options at a resort. Part of the fun of a vacation is exploring different things that a place has to offer. This is obviously dependent on a number of factors, depending on the Island you visit.

My last few Caribbean visits have been to Turks, which has a lot of very good restaurants. I can't imagine going there and parking myself at the Beaches all-inclusive resort, and never leaving. But to each his own I guess.

But you should never have to physically carry your wallet to the pool or beach.

I'd like to see a Venn diagram of the people who talk about carrying their wallets and the people who say they like cargo shorts because they provide room to carry all their stuff.

Who needs to carry a wallet everywhere? Even when I'm out to dinner on vacation, I rarely carry more than a credit card, an ID and a little cash. No need for a "wallet". On the beach, it's rarely more than a little cash.

No room for that in the Speedo

Honestly, if you want to just plant yourself at an all-inclusive it doesn't really matter where you go. I'd go to the easiest to get to because you aren't there to explore.

There’s always the gays that have to come in and say this same shite in every one of these threads. Dude, nobody thinks you’re adventurous

Oh bull shite right back at you. Read the OP and what he said afterwards. He wants to plant his arse at the resort and not leave by what he stated. At that point they're all basically the same except as noted, some are higher end than others.

Sure he can do "excursions". Whoop di do. If he wants to spend all or the vast majority of his time at a resort then I'd look for the quickest and easiest to get to so he can maximize vacation time as opposed to travel time.

Then ignore the thread, none of the locals want you or any other outsiders hanging out with them anyways

You're an all-inclusive lover, aren't you?

Nope, I grew up in a resort town, we all hate the “hang out with the locals” tourist, we do like the money though. I think both are fine, people should be able to do what they are comfortable with. You aren’t cooking tamales in peoples front yard, quit acting like you do. OP wants all inclusive, it’s no big deal

Oh, yes, you clearly feel this way. Clearly. Absolutely. No doubt.

Thank you.

Yeah-$600/day per couple seemed steeeeep. I'll avoid that.

On what part of the resort did y'all stay? Do you have a recommendation for which rooms/cottages/villas/bungalows have the best access, views, or amenities?

Bump.

Anyone else with any experience at Viceroy Sugar Beach on St. Lucia?

Thank you.
