Need a recommendation for a good kid-friendly destination between Bham and Blue Ridge, GA

We're going to Blue Ridge, GA, for the week of July 4th, but our reservation doesn't start until Sunday, the 30th. I'm looking for something to do with the kids (10 and 4 year old girls) between Birmingham and Blue Ridge on Friday or Saturday of next week. We don't mind going a little out of the way to get there, but we've been to Chattanooga a couple times before, and were just in Atlanta last week, so we are looking for something new to do with our girls before our week in Blue Ridge. Right now we're thinking we may just stay in Birmingham and hit up Splash Adventure and a movie, because our searches have come up short. Can y'all recommend something fun that I'm missing?

Great Wolf Lodge just opened in LaGrange in the last year or two. It's not exactly on the way but not a haul either.

Thanks. That's definitely a contender. $480 a night seems a bit steep though. Is it worth it?

Desoto Caverns is about 45 minutes southeast of Birmingham. They've got a lot of stuff for kids and the caverns are pretty cool. I'm sure there are better options since this place is in the middle of nowhere, but it was the first thing that came to mind

Spend a night at Lake Lanier Islands and do the water park, or even closer to Blue Ridge spend a day/night at Amicalola Falls lodge for hiking swimming etc, Day trip to Dahlonegha or Helen etc...
Lot to do...

No idea, I don't have kids
But apparently it's a kid paradise, so I wonder if that price gets activities included or not.

In Alabama? Looks cool on TripAdvisor. Never even heard of that place till you mentioned it. Have you been there?

Yep. Neat little mountain town. But may be kinda similar to Blue Ridge if you’re looking for some variety.

Chestnut Bay Resort on Weiss Lake. We rent Lake house #5. The houses are nice and well equipped. There are two pools, jet ski rentals etc. Scope it out if it fits your route.
