We are thinking about making a quick trip to Nashville for NYE. Does anyone know if many places will be open? Is there anything special to do on NYE? We are not drinkers so we would be more into food, fireworks, or interesting places.

Also, recommendations on a place to stay would be appreciated. Thanks

Things should be pretty lit around Broadway and 2nd.

There's still a 10pm curfew for restaurants.

Good deals to be had hotel wise. Night life isn’t so great and now I’d be careful considering the bomb blast was so close to Broadway. I live about 11 miles from downtown.

I used to go to the Music City Bowl every year and stick around for New Years. I used to end up paying about $400 a night for new years eve and there was usually a two day minimum. I could get a room near Vandy for less and just walk. Honestly though, I think I would find something else to do this year.

Nashville typically has a blowout NYE celebration (see below). That said, given the Covid restrictions, the worthless mayor, and the fact that a bomb just blew up most of 2nd street, I think I’d sit this one out and wait until next year.

Obviously Google your places to stay, restaurants etc. and current COVID restrictions.

Had a doctor's appointment downtown and just finished driving around this morning. Barriers and police in a two block radius of 2nd.

But..

It looks likes business as usual overall. Lots of people walking around. I did notice a few restaurants in German Town that look like they closed (Silo and German Town Cafe for two).

One note:

A "thing" in Nashville is Roof Top Bars. Depends on the weather when you're here of course but some use heaters as well.

I've been to Acme and loved it. George Jones is supposed to be nice as well. Many options.

I live 2.5 hours from Nashville. Wife and I go there 3-4 times a year. We usually stay at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown. Right next to Printers Alley and walking distance to Broadway. You will need to drive to the Gulch/Vandy tho if that is where you wife wants to hang.

This is not the year for NYE in Nashville. Part of downtown is still a no-go zone with a curfew. For places that are open, last call is 10:00. Metro will not be doing their normal concerts. Plus it's supposed to be raining cats and dogs Thursday night.

COVID19 or not. Rain or not. Still much to do here if you want to just get away from it all. Looks like the rain starts to clear by Friday afternoon and the weekend will be good.

Plenty of hiking options like Radnor Lake or the Warner Park System, with many paved trails in case it'd be too muddy.

Tons of historic sites like Ft. Negley.

Franklin is about the coolest downtown area in the country and about 15 miles south of Nashville.
