I have to get to Jackson MS Sunday evening via I20 East.

Will crossing the bridge in these low temps and sleet / snow be safe?

Safer than swimming across.

I’m sure LDOT and MDOT will be doing all they can to keep it open. If the roads are so bad that the MS river bridge is affected, then all of the other bridges/overpasses would be affected. If it’s a concern can you leave before the weather moves in? Your only other option would be to head south to Natchez or St Francisville.

We messed up

Left early to avoid the winter weather - it is a dangerous situation from Rayville to Delhi - very bad roads with heavy ice accumulation

Driving is 25-30 MPH max. Will update on bridge

Should never gotten on I20 this morning

Bridge should be fine now, no weather in Vicksburg. But I’m guessing by now you are already across it.

Once we got east of Delhi, conditions started improving - once we got to Tallulah, the conditions had improved greatly - almost no ice.

Bridge was fine - no issues.

We just got home from Memphis a little while ago and the roads were getting slick. It was much worse there than it is here at the moment. I’d imagine a good portion of the highways north of Jackson will be closed tonight. It was raining/sleeting and temps were in the low 20’s.
