Another vote for Bozeman. Great access to massive expanses of public land, good airport, Ennis and Big Sky aren't far, Yellowstone/Glacier etc. It's booming, get in now.

White Salmon, WA. Just across the bridge from Hood River, OR, in the Columbia River Gorge. About an hour from Portland. As someone said earlier, no state income tax in WA, and no sales tax right across the river in OR.

Another bonus of living on the WA side is that you get great views of Mt Hood. People in Hood River can't see Mt Hood because the foothills are in the way.

The weather there is not too cold in the winter(but wet) and amazing in the summer.

Ha So true! It's especially bad right now because of construction which, hopefully, will alleviate some of it...but who knows. I avoid that area altogether unless I'm going up the canyon.
