Considering a visit to the Monterrey, CA area in the fall. Anyone know if the area is experiencing a high rate of shut downs like a lot of the country is? We'll probably do a few National Forest visits while out there

It is fantastic. Spanish Bay at sunset with the bagpipes is awesome. Avoid the touristy fisherman’s wharf. Aquarium is great and of course the golf is world class

I don’t know the answer to your question, but hit up Alvarado Street Brewery if you’re a beer fan. Great atmosphere and terrific beers.

Drive the entire 17 mile drive and stop a few times at the lookouts. Its unreal. Get a beer and watch the golfers finish on 18 at Pebble

I've been in Newport Beach all week and went down the coast to Del Mar yesterday...most of the restaurants along the coast have taken parking spots in front of the building and turned them into outdoor dining, or they have been open for takeout. I've not seen all that many places actually closed.

Most shops have a limited the number of people that can enter based on their square footage but, again, most places are still open.

Have fun!

Been in Carmel by the sea for two weeks, I would say almost everything is open in some capacity (except the aquarium unfortunately). What has been great is normally there are only a few restaurants with outdoor seating but now they all have it and with the weather in the 60s it is incredible.

I would not recommend staying in Monterey. I would stay in Carmel by the sea or Carmel valley.

Stop at Pebble Beach and have drinks and snacks at the firepits overlooking the 18th hole. Even if you don't play golf, it's a great place to relax and enjoy life with amazing views.

Bumping this thread. Anyone been recently? We have flights booked for the middle of October currently.

I've been following the wildfires every few days. The two near Carmel/Monterey look to be contained for the most part. But can anyone report on the air quality in the region right now?
