Air France and Delta have Mid $500s flights through Atlanta to Paris and then connecting to many locations: Milan, Rome, Amsterdam, etc for right before Christmas Holidays and right after. Some deals through the Holidays depending on the days.

Just an FYI

ETA: These are flights starting elsewhere in the south and going through Atlanta

Eta2: many of the deals are gone already

I'm already going to Europe towards the end of the year but just let some friends know. Those are good deals and I'm glad to see the Europe sales back again.

I'm curious if this is as low as it will get? With a connection in the states? $550 is a very good deal, but I wouldn't say "great" using past deals. But I'm not sure what the market is going to do this year?

Given the hesitation in travel still, I feel like some better deals may come up?

Yeah in the past pre-Covid I have seen flights from MSY to Europe in the 400s (and hopped on board a few of those).

But I think with the way the world is and the way prices have gone up for EVERYTHING, the 500s is a good deal.

December 17 to Jan 1: MSY to Paris for $588 with overnight in Heathrow(direct from nola) way there but only 1.6 hour on way back.

Is this a good deal?

Yeah that isn't bad.

And Paris is wonderful to me no matter the time of year.

I saw 545ish to Paris during Thanksgiving time.

Same dates can fly to Milan for $718 with a bag. No interest in Milan but Italy in general. Italy worth visiting during that time?

I have only been to Italy in late summer (which was pretty goddamned hot), but I imagine its perfectly fine.

Obviously places like Cinque terre or the Amalfi Coast won't be the same (although both will have A LOT less people).

Nice. I was thinking of going to Colombia around this time but it’s more expensive/about the same to fly there than Europe somehow.

I warn everyone: when these deals pop up you have to shite or get off the pot. They are mostly gone within 24-48 hours.

British Airways has much higher fees so if you are getting a price similar for them its a good deal.

Although I MUCH prefer Delta/Air France over British Airways which i am not a huge fan of, even though all of my miles are through American Airlines/British Airways etc.

Delta and their partners are significantly better to me.

Yea. It’s enticing to fly direct out of MSY and get to Europe though/big return leg lands back home.

Thanks for the advice.

If its a better flight and more convenient, its not enough of a difference. Just go with whatever airline.

If I have similar flights with similar prices and I don't care about miles, I probably choose Delta partner or United.

Yes. Generally speaking the AVG fare with a connection is $800-1200 to Europe. Under $600 is a very good deal, under $500 is a great deal, and under $400 can't be beat.

I'm not sure this will be the only deal for this winter, I think they run things like this to see how many people are considering going and testing the markets.

As said this will likely last 24 to 48 hours or less, could be 12 hours.

Agree with those price guidelines. I need to figure out where we want to go...London would be super easy and flights in the $650 range is reasonable.

Thanks for posting. I was able to find a New Orleans to Santorini or Crete flight for $586 on Lufthansa/United that I am considering pulling the trigger on. I am a little nervous with Covid restrictions and connecting in Germany (and a full day layover in Frankfurt on the way home), but A) I think that is the cheapest I have ever seen the Greek islands without piecing together different tickets from New Orleans B) I think this might be the least touristed summer to Greece or all time so the crowds will be light.

Hey what's up.

I think the weather will be more comfortable then. Sweating my balls off a bit right now but manageable.

I think Croatia is worth a visit. Reminds me of Greece in a lot of ways where very tourist centric, so how "authentic" is the experience is subject to your interpretation, though I only had a full week to work with and my wife is pregnant so I can't push to some of the other interesting places. Easy to get around. Very scenic. Dollar goes far. Pretty good English. People have been friendly, drive like dicks but don't sweat it.

Plitvice is cool, Split gets hated on too much. I think if you like islands almost any of them will do. Stopped in Omis for a little bit and they have some nature activities there. Town has a really cool location.

Dubrovnik is beautiful but the old town isn't really a town any more due to tourism. I booked all the good restaurants I could find and so far so good. About to leave the hotel for another dinner in a few.

Hotel Excelsior is awesome. Most importantly, my wife loves it. Hope to get a real report out when I'm back.

I have been to Italy in early December, was in the 40s-50s most of the time I was there and very pleasant. From what I have seen, it is a great time to go as it was not crowded at all compared to the summer.
