Maneuvering LAX (T3 - T1) advice (40 min connection)

My first flight tonight aready delayed 1hr out of MSY. Booked on two different tickets (and airlines) MSY-LAX then LAX-LAS tonight. My first flight is already delayed an hour leaving me with 40 mins in LAX between arrival and departure. 
What is the fastest way to get to T1 from T3? I don't think there is any connection from the inside meaning I'll have to go through TSA again.
2nd connection is on SW. I have a backup ticket for tomorrow morning too but would really like to make it to LAS tonight

I would try and get the refund on spirit from the delay and get on the nonstop to LAS (leaves at 3pm). You can also pray that your flight to vegas is delayed on southwest, are you on the 930 or 1020pm?

10:20 out of LAX.
I thought about getting that flight switched but I have work today so can't leave before 4. For the 3PM flight I'd have to get out at noon
Provided I land in LAX at 9:40. What do you think are my odds of making my 10:20?

Link below is from the LAX airport showing the time it takes to walk between terminals on the arrivals level. Assuming it takes 5 min to get off the plane and down to arrivals, map shows 6 min from T3-T2 and another 6 min from T2-T1. Assuming you have precheck, add in another 10 min for security, 5 min to walk to gate. What are we at, roughly 32 min? As long as southwest doesn't close the door early for that flight you MAY have a chance. The big unknown in this is security and how long it will take at LAX T1.

I just have a bad feeling that things are not going to go well today, in tracking your plane the spirit flight for early this morning hasn't left LAX to go to OAK, it still has to come back to LAX before heading to MSY. The delays right now are estimating like 20 minute turns
ETA: LAX-OAK finally took off 2 hr 45 min late. You may just want to start looking for a cheap hotel or another poster's couch near LAX

Omg. On the other hand I just called spirit and they said there is still a chance that it will make the departure on time. I did go ahead and get row 6 for $18 to give me a shot at getting out of the plane sooner.
Here's the kicker in all of this: Delta flight was $8 cheaper than spirit but got in at 937. I got the spirit one because it got in an hr early. Now I knew the last spirit flight out was most likely gonna be late but figured o had an hr. Frick me. Delta would've at least reliably left me with some time.
ETA: Looks like this plane is coming in from BWI. That flight is on time. Yet, mine is now delayed 1h 45m. Even if it stays at this, no way I make my connection

They definitely just did a swap from the OAK to BWI plane. I'm wondering if your inbound flight could end up leaving LAX around 1pm instead of 1:45pm. If it makes up some time in the air (the fastest LAX-MSY has taken 3 hours 12 min recently), it could arrive at MSY around 6:15~6:30pm, depart at 7pm and you'll still have a chance.
I've never booked multiple airline tickets just because of situations like this, just too much to worry about

I know man haha. It was one of those last minute things and I was trying to have my cake and eat it too. Main thing was I could only leave after work and not a lot of options at that time.
The BWI plane seems to be doing ok so far. May still have a shot
ETA: Plane landed in LAX 5 mins early. If they are going to use the same aircraft and it is in LAX now, what is stopping them from putting it back on schedule from here on? What am I missing?

Good luck kop, I missed a pretty big family event once because of an issue at LAX that delayed me. It makes me sad to remember it whenever I go through it.

Thanks haha. I forgot about the 2h time diff. Delayed 2h. No way around it I guess. I may cancel both my SW flights and drive to Vegas tonight

If the traffic is as bad as when I connected through there to Seoul good fricking luck making the flight using that thing.
