That’s a 45k trip with flights and 7 nights. Not sure how long they stayed or what kind of points, if any, were used.

Rooms start at 30k Amex points a night. There are quite a few hotels between 50-90k points a night. Of course the really high-end places are more.

I found business class on Qatar for 140k Amex points each way. I have been unable to find 1st class rewards that are available so far.

For two you could easily go there for 8 days for under a million Amex points and at least fly business class on Qatar.

ETA: It looks like Q Suites is business class from what I've found and read on travel blogs. I've confirmed that Q Suites is business class.

Thanks. Can you start a new thread with your trip report?

I haven’t been to the Maldives. A quick search of flights and hotels gave me the 45k ballpark figure.

We stayed at JW Marriott for 5 nights in an overwater bungalow for 320k points. Which isn’t all that hard to get if you have status and one of their cards.

Pretty accurate if you factor in all we did and ate. Luckily we were able to supplement with points also.

Certainly the Maldives can be done much cheaper in economy and a lesser resort. The Waldorf Astoria Maldives is Hiton's best hotel (Travel & Leisure's #3 ranked hotel in the world). A basic reef villa averages $2500 (or 150k Hilton Pts/night) and overwater bungalows are much higher.

Would you mind breaking down what you used points on vs what you spent out of pocket?

Had another awesome trip to the Maldives. Decided to stay at the Conrad to change it up. Would probably recommend the Waldorf Astoria more though. Both mind blowing gorgeous but the WA was just a notch above in most aspects.

Flew round trip Qatar Q-suites again. Probably would not go back if we had to fly economy.

This is the OT baller parking lot, lol. Very cool

Is it really worth the trip and money over the better spots in the Caribbean or even Hawaii? Dropping that many points/ money can get you A LOT elsewhere?

If this is top 3, what would be the first 2?

No particular order but right now I have Bali, Barcelona, and Maldives in my top 3. Take note that it’s not all about location and amenities. I put a premium on memories and experience. Maldives has been the most intimate and luxurious though. Can’t beat a private dinner over water with my own personal chef.
