We're going to Hoover, Al. for the SEC baseball tournament and doing a side trip to Lynchburg for 2/3 days. Besides the distilleries whats to see and do there? Also open for places to eat and places to stay.

Two or three days in Lynchburg? Did you mean to type two or three hours? You certainly don't want to spend two or three days in Lynchburg.

Tims Ford Lake?

They've got that Boarding House restaurant, a couple of barbecue restaurants, a meat and three, and a couple of wineries (Tennessee sweet wine).

Where's a better place to stay other than Lynchburg? Just wanted to see J. Daniels and G. Dickel distilleries.

I have been there. The Jack Daniels distillery was fun. The famous restaurant is Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. One day is plenty.

Why don't you check out the distilleries, and then just head into Nashville? Nashville offers plenty more to see. You can even stop off in Franklin and Liepers Fork along the way and eat at Country Boy and tour Liepers Fork distillery.

Hit Jack Daniels and Dickel then continue on your way.

Pritchard's Distillery is nearby/on the way and very cool. Small batch stuff and set in an old schoolhouse.

agreed - hit Jack and George and then head to Franklin via Leipers Fork.

ANother option is setting up shop in Chattanooga and exploring the civil war battlefields. Thwre is some nice hiking in the area as ell.

If you have kayaks or canoes, Elk River is a fun lazy float to drink a lot of beer from the dam down several miles. It's stocked with trout, so it's fun to fish as well. Just got to make sure the water flow is right though. Weekends are usually fine.

This was a multiple times trip every summer when I was in school with my fraternity. Great little float.

Wonder if that foot bridge that looks straight out of Deliverance is still there...
