Hello travel board, I’m hoping that you all can point me in the right direction.

Just flew from Atlanta to Newark. My delta app said that my baggage arrived, but it was nowhere to be found.

I filed a claim with Delta and they said that they are working on it.

We are flying out of here on Monday to Iceland and all of my cold weather gear was in the bag. I’m nervous about not getting the luggage returned and having to re-buy all this winter gear.

What recourse to I have? What will delta reimburse me for?

All of this should have been asked at the Delta baggage counter.

Keep receipts of everything you buy that you had to replace. Also, check with your credit card that you booked the trip with.

Both very important. Also keep calling to find location of the bag. Keep bitching about needing it for remainder of trip.

Do you have the delta app downloaded? When I travel on delta the baggage tag will show up in the reservation. On my last trip when I made the connection but my bag did not, the app updated mid-flight to say "Expedited on Flight ### for Sunday 1/12" when I realized it didn't make the connection. I submitted the claim like you did, but realized the app was more useful in this case.

Hope this helps and you get your bag back today. There's still two more EWR-ATL flights so chances are good I'd say for today or tomorrow.

keep all receipts since you will have to submit along with your claim once you return. Delta mentions 50 bucks per day in their literature but they will reimburse far beyond that if the charges are reasonable and necessary. The claim submission is a PITA. My bags didn't make the connection in ATL on the way to Key West recently and the trip was for a long weekend. Bags finally arrived about 12 hours before our departure back home. They paid for everything.....clothes, underwear, socks, sandals, makeup etc. We chose not to carry anything on with us (was the first time we had done that and paid for it). Upon submission, Delta immediately approved it (within hours) and the check arrived within a few days.

I've had baggage lost a few times and it always turns up within 24 hours. Hopefully yours turns up too.

Had same thing happen coming JFK back to MSY, I filed a report with the person at MSY and a week later my suitcase showed up at my front door.

Thanks for the help! Got it back at 3:00 this morning. Someone walked out of the airport with it- even though it had tags and all kinds of stuff on it to indicate it was mine.
