Doing a ski trip with some friends in February.
I realize that there are a lot of resort options in the LT area.
Any tips on how we should plan? Where we should rent our house and be close to the resorts.
Casinos are on our radar as well.

Went in January. Flew to Reno, rented car. Got an AirBNB place around Ski Run Blvd and Regina Road. Spent 4 days at Heavenly Resort mountain. It was a short 5 minute drive to the mountain, although I believe there was shuttle service available as well if we had walked about 2 blocks from our place.
At night, we hit up the area around the big gondala and the casinos. Short taxi/uber trip to that area.

Stay at Harrahs or Harveys and ski Heavenly

quote:If you want night life stay in South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly as the others have said).
Casinos are on our radar as well.
If you want peace and quiet then look on the north side (Incline Village).

we stayed in Tahoe City and skied Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. was nice, but there was some traffic leaving the resort each day.

Be sure to eat at Edgewood country club. Heavenly is the best resort, but Kirkwood is a hell of a mountain without much else. Flatstar is cute.

Incline is nice the Hilton has a Casino and a shuttle that runs to Diamond Peak (small but still decent for the price and very close), Squaw/Alpine, and maybe Mt. Rose. I am a huge fan of Mt. Rose.

quote:Agreed. Mt Rose has the best snow in Tahoe. And it's not a bad drive from Reno either. Worth considering for sure.

I go to Tahoe every year to ski, we fly into Reno then drive into Truckee. If you want night life stay south of the lake, if you prefer a small mountain town with a few bars Truckee is great. We always ski squaw.

Any tips on flights? I can fly to Denver from New Orleans for 200-250, but Reno is $500 in most cases.
