Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park - Advice/Tips needed

Anyone been to the King's Canyon area of California. I am about to lock in a a trip the 2nd week so August. Will be driving on from Vegas after a show at the Sphere.
Wondering if anyone has tips on visiting those parks and that area. No kids but will need to rent a 2 bedroom AirBnb. Should I stay closer to KCNP or SNP? (or does it matter) It seems a long way 1.5 hrs to the KCNP park from the Airbnb closer to SNP
Thanks in advance.

It doesn’t matter where you stay. Hiked Panther Gap several times near the General Sherman Tree. You’re a 1-2 radius of continuous beauty.

It adds on sometime, but I highly recommend driving up through Death Valley on the way to KIngs/Sequoia.
I did this trip with the family a few years ago. We went from Denver to Vegas, then through Death Valley over to Visalia, then to Sequoia/Kings and Fresno, then on to Yosemite.
It doesn't matter where you stay. We did Visalia the first night and Fresno the second. I don't think one had an advantage over the other for seeing the parks.

I also agree that it really won’t matter where you stay.
There will probably still be plenty of fresh fruit the second week of august,
So be sure to stop at any roadside fruit stands you see, especially if you get closer to Fresno. Some of the best peaches and nectarines I’ve ever had came from those roadside stands the last week of July.

Sequoia has nice cabins and a decent mess hall for a couplw days there. From there a good drive to Kings Canyon but thats a one day trip into the Canyon. Great swimming in the lakes near the bottom. We've stayed in Visalia and it's a nice ride to the parks.

yes KC is kind of a drive thru though there is a lodge at the end of the road. There’s trails there too. Spend your major time at sequoia there’s way more to see than you will have time for. You can see kings canyon on a day trip or one overnight
Stay at the Muir lodge or grant grove cabins (or both). Sequoia is incredible. Plan on hiking
