Sooo we are going to place south of Cancun for a wedding in nov and want to spend a couple/few days in Isla to get away from the hype and gala and family. How easy is it to leave Isla and catch a flight out of Cancun? Where should one stay for a more natural and local beach setting with more local and less tourist food , laid back. Also can one get around the island in a golf cart from north beach hotels?

Multiple daily ferries. But if you're fight is before 9am you may want to stay that night close to airport.
Ferry trip is 15 minutes. Then cab ride to airport is at least 15 more minutes but with traffic can be$50. Taxis often scam so ask price ahead of time.

What i do i get a travel service. I use Carm every time and have a private van to airport.
Works great.

The more local food would be in the middle of the island or punta sur but those areas are away from the good beaches. I normally stay in the local area then have a golf cart to go to playa norte. Bausto's and Mangos are must eat. But I highly highly highly recommend doing a Culture cruiser food tour with Jose. He'll bring you to 5 or 6 places locals eat at. Including starting with a home cooked meal in his house. Then elite, then Drinks, then Grilled fish, then tamale mole, then tacos followed by more totally different tacos then flan. The places he brings you to are good places to return to. Since they are for locals and not tourist places the food is cheap

I ALso recommend getting fish Tikin Xic at least once.

Do the places to stay have airport shuttles? We were thinking about staying on the Northside for less crowd but not remote. Is that correct?

On the island? No. You have to ferry then take a shuttle once in mainland. A cab from the north island to ferry is about $100mx ($6)

Absolutely do this tour. It is bad arse. You will be humbled like never before.

Bring cash to tip the homeowners.

Looking for places to stay on the beach in Playa Norte that are away from the hustle and bustle and have a sandy beach not rocky or full of beach chairs. Yet close enough to drive a golf cart.

Also do they nail you too bad for drinks if you try to not do the all inclusive thing?
