Is Chattanooga a good destination for a senior trip?

Mainly looking for white water rafting but hiking is good too. Are they open for stuff right now? Thinking of going at the end of June.

My son went to UTC. Lived there for years.

I'd say sure (but what kind of "senior"? +65? High School? College? )

Things To Do Site.

Rafting? You'd have to drive over to the Ocoee or Hiawassee (great for tubing, kayaking, some light rapids and rafting).

Maybe an hour drive to either.

Access to some GREAT hiking options. Check out Cloudland Canyon! Stay in a Yurt if you can get a reservation.

History. Look Out Mountain. Tour the Chickamauga Battlefield!

Raining? Or just for fun? Visit the Tennessee Aquarium.

Check out the Farmer's Market during the weekend near Finley Stadium. Southside Social is a cool bar/restaurant there.

High school senior. I’m mainly wondering if there’s enough to do for a week!

I'm a senior (79 YO) and enjoy Chattanooga. Here's my itinerary:

1. Lookout Mountain (Rock City, Ruby Falls, battlefield)
2. Aquarium
3. Go home

Ehh I don't think so. I'd rent a house on a lake near Chattanooga (Blue Ridge, Nottely, Chatuge) and maybe spend a day in Chattanooga.

Yes. And there is enough to do for a week there and the surrounding area for a week. Especially if you like the outdoors.

In the scheme of life, and being a senior, not sure I'd target Chattanooga for my "senior trip" (we went to Daytona Beach years ago , but I digress).

What prompted you to wonder about Chattanooga? Budget? Drive times to get there?

But the answer is sure. You'd use it as a base to see some other sights. You're within a lot of nice outdoor activities within 1.5 hours or less.

Do you have the All Trails app? Can show you all the good trails.

I like tubing, rafting, "funyaking" down the Hiawassee. Maybe 45 minutes from Chattannooga. It's damn controlled, so check the schedules. Maybe some Class 1-2 type water at most. Great fishing area. The Ocoee is where you'd get the white water. Dam controlled also, so check the schedules, but you're pretty much assure of flow in season. Many outfitters to choose from.
