Got it! Thank you. This trip of hers has been a disaster as soon as she had a 5 hour delay in Dallas on Saturday. She’s also fighting a migraine of all things. That poor girl can’t get home soon enough.

I've got a sinus or eye infection right behind my eyebrow, I feel her pain. Keep us updated on whether she gets out. Worst case have her drive to the east side of FL and fly out of West Palm, Ft Lauderdale, Miami, etc.

Feel better soon. That’s no fun at all.

Wifey is with her group and heading to Orlando. Traffic is already backing up on the 4. She has a flight booked tomorrow at 1:50pm. We’ll see if that happens. But we got her a hotel room close to the airport in the meantime.

Weather looks okay for MCO tomorrow morning and midday. She may want to get to the airport early just in case, likely going to be a mess

Looks like they've added a few arrival airports now and MCO is an option.

So, it's either stick with an arrival on 8.30 into Tampa at 11:35 pm OR switch to MCO for an arrival at 6:45 pm

Not sure what to do here

Lets look at the weather

TPA- 15-20mph winds consistent (gusts higher) Wednesday night

MCO- 22mph winds consistent (gusts higher) at 645pm

Neither option is good. Is Thursday an option into MCO? 12mph Thursday morning

They have one flight that arrives before 855PM on Thursday (5:40am departure and 12:20pm arrival)

TPA has a 5:30am direct that arrives at 8am

I think I may just wait till tomorrow but by 11pm on Wednesday Tampa looks like we should be able to get in assuming there's no drastic track changes

Will it let you rebook to Ft Lauderdale? 3 hr drive from there but at least you're out of the way of potential storm impacts

Yes, it's an option. Not sure I want to pull that trigger right now because I'd have to switch both flights and go in and out of FLL.

Hopefully tomorrow the picture gets a little clearer but right now I'm thinking the late arrival in Tampa is the best place for me to be right now.

Orlando isn't shutting down yet that we know of, but from what I can tell there isn't a well defined time that TPA is reopening. I'd guess Southwest just calls it a day on Wednesday at TPA, cancels everything, and restarts fresh on Thursday morning

Yeah, i guess that makes sense. So switching sooner than later might be the best bet.

Just read in regards to TPA..."The Airport anticipates reopening Thursday morning, with damage assessments beginning after the storm passes. TPA will closely coordinate the reopening of the Airport with its partners based on roadway safety, facility readiness and staffing. Any changes to the timing will be promptly communicated."

Based on that it's either Thursday or Orlando or South Florida

Well furk. I have an 8:25 am flight into RSW tomorrow morning and my wife has a flight out of RSW early Wednesday afternoon. This won’t be fun.

Option 1: 9:30 dep from MSY on Wednesday with a 12:05 am arrival

Option 2: 6:55 pm dep from MSY and 9:45 arrival at FLL

I really don't want to fly home from FLL though...do you know if Southwest will let me just change one of the legs?

Got it done by the phone. I couldn't do it online but they let me change just my arrival.

Now set for a 10:00pm arrival on Wednesday into FLL and then we will just drive into Orlando from there.

Car rental switch was actually cheaper to pickup from FLL and drop off at TPA for the return so the only real difference is a 3 hour drive after we land as opposed to a 1 hour drive and lost time at Club MSY.

It will be bumpy... You should get in, not sure your wife's flight will leave Wednesday afternoon

Sorry had to go do some actual work for a bit... But glad you got it figured out and southwest was able to make that change via phone . Worth it imo to avoid the mess that Tampa and Orlando airports are going to be, plus you're on the nonstop correct?

You'll be driving past me Wednesday night, maybe I'll wave to you on 95

Nope..connecting in Austin but seems like the least of all evils

Thanks for the FLL suggestion; not sure my brain would have went there to think of that. I probably would have just stuck with MCO and forced a different schedule

I doubt Texas has rain so you should be good

I actually was thinking West Palm but there's not many options from here on Southwest unfortunately

Eta: Wait it looks like there's room on the 645pm nonstop MSY-FLL Wednesday night, why not take that instead of the connection?
