Any thoughts or tips on a small getaway to Boston?

It's a good city for a long weekend trip, you can generally catch what you'll want to see in 3-4 days.

^^^
And this comment comes from someone who visited in February, objectively the worst month of the year to be in Boston.
Glad y’all had a good time.

Just a heads up on the link DLauw provided. At this point, especially in light of COVID, it's pretty due for an update.
I keep meaning to do that, but it turns out in order to receive a paycheck, my employer expects me to "work", which frankly doesn't seem very fair.

I enjoy 3-4 days there but COVID has things locked down and the winters suck. Go in warmer times. There is some decent food and obviously if you're into museums etc... there is some very good material from when Massholes didn't hate guns and freedom (IE 1776).

I love history so that is my motivation to head up there

There's certainly no shortage of history and things to do/see in that regard.
Obviously there is the Freedom Trail, and there are a number of bars that have historical significance along the route that you can stop in and have a drink (Bell in Hand and Green Dragon being the primary two).
Depending on when you come and what Phase we are in, the Boston Public Library is absolutely worth walking through for a bit. It's the country's first public library.
FYI, Governor Baker just announced today that beginning March 1, we are moving into Step 2 of Phase III, which includes the following:
Indoor performance venues such as concert halls, theaters, and other indoor performance spaces will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity with no more than 500 persons
Indoor recreational activities with greater potential for contact (laser tag, roller skating, trampolines, obstacle courses) will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity
Capacity limits across all sectors with capacity limits will be raised to 50% and exclude employees
Restaurants will no longer have a percent capacity limit and will be permitted to host musical performances; six-foot social distancing, limits of six people per table and 90 minute limits remain in place
Furthermore, it was announced that the Commonwealth may begin Phase IV as soon as March 22nd. So, good news!

I am looking at April so this may seal the deal for me

What do you do for work there in Boston?

I'm one of those evil attorneys you hear about on the OT all the time.

Stay near the waterfront. Downtown by the theater district and the Park/square is FULL of homeless people. Cemeteries are great to check out. Freedom trail is good. Take a tour guide if there for a short time. Bay cruise is nice. USS Constitution.
