I say Choice Hotels now that Radisson has been integrated. Choice does some great gift card promotions. I Average around $2k a year in Amazon gift cards from choice.

Truly amazing all of these folks saying Marriott and Hilton. Hyatt has the very best top level tier and by far, the most valuable points.
I think most are not picking Hyatt due to the lack of locations.
For an example, I was looking the other day for a nice Hyatt within an easy drive, and other than Nola, you have to go deep into Florida’s to find nice properties.
But I do love the looks of their resorts out west

That said, your preference will ultimately depend on what type of traveler you are. Global travelers who appreciate variety will want to stick with Marriott because of the breadth of its portfolio and number of brands. Those who like to secure solid value from elite status, however, will fare better with Hyatt, which has a much more rewarding elite status program.
NeedWallet just recently compared the two.

Marriot all day! Hilton is sneaky on your points if you are considered inactive by them!

Not sure of your age or how many years you think you might travel. Hopefully this helps:
With Marriott, you can get to Lifetime Platinum with 600 nights and 10 years at Platinum level. That is very attainable with business travel.
With Hilton it is going to be 1000 Nights and 10 years as Diamond to make Lifetime Diamond.
You can get sucked into going back and forth and never reach the highest level in one program. Made that mistake with Hilton promos to be Diamond. Back "then" not sure there was a Lifetime Diamond status.
For personal travel, Marriott is usually going to have the best options. But, Hilton has some unique property locations - a few examples that come to mind: Embassy Suites near SECCG; Roosevelt in NOLa, nice hotel in Venice. Give some thought to where you think you will travel for leisure.
The highest program level is very attainable and the benefits are great.
Hilton devalues their point currency faster than Marriott over time. On the plus side, Hilton offers using points & dollars where Marriott only does that at select hotels with no consistency.
IHG screwed a lot of their program members a few years back by intentionally not notifying the lower end members that the program was changing. Haven't stayed at one of their properties since. You can usually get one of their nicer properties (Intercontinental) on Priceline if you learn to "figure" out the property they are offering. That easier back in the Bid Days.
Once you decide on a program, or programs, get their low cost CC and you'll never lose your points.
Safe travels.

Hilton will try to entice you at times to get you to stay more often. Based on past travel, they bumped me back to Diamond two years in a row. Diamond level is a big plus when you stay at a Hilton property. Silver, not sot so much.
