I’ve been coming to this place for years and enjoy it every time. It’s only 20 minutes from LAX and hotel prices are usually very good.
Took my daughter for her first trip to the West Coast this week.
You can visit Malibu, Beverly Hills/Hollywood, Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach, etc and then have a great little spot to come back to after less than a hour drive.
The Hermosa pier offers a great selection of restaurants/bars throughout the week.
In fact, you can fly here with 2 people, rent a car, and hotel and still be cheaper than hotel prices in Destin for the week.
The weather is always great of course with 70’s and sun. It sure beats all the rain in Louisiana. The local people here are very chill.
Los Angeles may get a bad rep from most my Southern folks, but I guarantee none of them came here.
Anyways—just wanted to share my little gem and perhaps you could suggest other little getaway places that aren’t quite famous, but you love it and feels like home.

I used to ride my bike down the Marvin Braude Trail and bar hop during Happy Hour. I would hit up all the places in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo.
There are always top level women's beach volleyball players playing on the beach and damn it was a sight.

That's about the only thing I was going to add to this thread is that I know they can play the hell out of some volleyball out in Hermosa.
Have some friends who were there this weekend for a tournament.
