We have to use an airline credit or we'll lose it before end of year. Looking at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wanting to go somewhere fun for family and spend 2 full days there. Ideas on places in US that we can go and feel like we saw a lot but also not feel rushed that we won't be able to see everything (like New York, too little time). We can always fly to Orlando and do Universal but was trying to think of other places. We have 3 teens so nothing too kiddy. Thanks everyone!

--Washington, DC. Plenty to see & do, not so large as to be overwhelming like NYC. Weather shouldn't be too bad; cold but not awful. No need to rent a car, public transit gets you everywhere. From history to politics to art to sports, you can all find something to like in DC. Lots of ethnic dining choices, too, so even the dining can be an adventure (think Ethiopian, Malaysian, Salvadoran, etc)

Austin

Vegas (I know they can't gamble, but lots to entertain in 2 days)

If you went the mountain route, I would say SLC. The mountains from Denver are too far away for 2 days.

FYI it is 40 minutes from Denver International to Chautauqua Park and beautiful front range mountain trails . From there it’s just another short ride to higher elevations. Boulder would be great for a short trip because of scenery, things to do, Pearl St Mall, restaurants, ease of travel etc.

Where are you flying out from? Portland and Seattle fit the bill but the flight from be would be too long for the time you have if leaving from BR. Otherwise, have you done Atlanta as a family? Two days is just about perfect there. Coke factory, Aquarium, nice meals in Buckhead. Christmas will be too cold for Boston, but Thanksgiving would be perfect- have the big meal at the historic Ruth’s Chris.

Only 2 days? I’d say wherever you can get a direct flight.

D.C. wouldn’t be bad.

I love San Diego and weather will be great (because it’s always great). But you can spend an entire day at the just the zoo. Might not need a car depending on where you stay.

Nashville? Never been, but heard it’s fun.

I’d reconsider NYC. Easy transit and plenty to do. You don’t have to do everything. Let everyone pick one thing and make two days out of it. (Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Broadway Show, Museum, Rockefeller Center)

Vegas is perfect during Thanksgiving. The Black Friday deals are insane! Cheap cheap cheap cheap rooms.

Vegas would be a good idea. The Cirque du Soleil shows really are incredible.

Your teens might enjoy One (the Michael Jackson tribute show) or Love (the breathless tribute show). "O", Mystere and KA are amazing as well.

If y'all end up doing DC, make sure you visit the National Holocaust Museum

This makes me sound old,but the leaves will be changing color soon. So, Boston, or anything New England, would be a good play.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We are still deciding and are looking into all of these things.

Boston.

Yes, I’m a homer, but it does fit the description.

I think we've decided on Boston! Now can y'all tell me things to do in Boston? We are thinking the stadium and the freedom walk. What else? Also, good places to eat? Not overly expensive since we'll have the 3 horses to feed coming with us.

Good choice!

I'd recommend starting with this thread, as it has a lot of information that would probably be useful to you.

But if you have specific questions, I'm always happy to help as best I can. I'd recommend posting them in the linked thread rather than here.

Gardner collection and Fine Arts Museum for an art fix. Freedom trail is wonderful. Look for oysters that time of year. Two days is pretty perfect for the city proper. Have fun!

Union Oyster House - lobster ravioli
Sam Adams Brewery Tour is teenager friendly
21stamendment was a nice place for a bite in the beacon hill area
Old state house is cool
Pauli’s For lobster rolls
The public library is bad arse
Fenway Tour is worth it
USS Constitution is cool
Tour of Paul Revere’s house was interesting
Skip the wax museum
Skip the tea party place
Prudential building - go to it for views - wish we had eaten at the restaurant up there
Check out a couple of the old churches - take the basement tour at north church - the don’t advertise it
The mall / shopping in Copley center and Prudential building are great
The world’s 3rd largest apple store is there

Skip luke’s For any lunch or dinner - overrated

Disclaimer - I am a Boston tourist - longest I have stayed there is 3 nights at a time - I am not local like our other poster.

Uber from and to airport
We use transit system - works well for us

If you have Marriott points, the Copley place is nice - there are other Marriott properties close by as well.

You really won’t have time for Salem - you need to find a way to squeeze out time for Harvard area
