Are vaccinated people required to provide a negative corona test 72 hours prior to boarding a plane to Hawaii? I’m hearing conflicting things. TIA

Yes, and it is not 72 hours prior to boarding...its 72 hours before the last leg. So if you have a connecting flight, whenever that plane departs is when the 72 hour clock ends.

The vaccination passport program that begins on May 11th does not apply to anything but Inter-Island flight. So if you are a Hawaii resident and want to fly to the other islands and are vaccinated you can do so without a test or quarantine starting May 11.

It does't apply to trans-pacific travel until some time in the Summer. I believe the goal was June 1st-ish for that...but Hawaii is one of the disorganized, wishy-washy states in the Union, so I doubt that is implemented until at least July, more likely August.

Yes. We just got back yesterday, and had been vaccinated on 3/31. You have to upload the lab report to safe travels before you get on your flight. Easy when you land, show ID and your QR code, and they activate the QR for your trip. If you island hop to any island apart from Oahu, you need another test. We spent 4 days in Oahu, then went to Maui. Got tested in Oahu 2 days before our flight.

The inter-island vaccination exemption is only valid if you were vaccinated in Hawaii.

Yes they are. We live here and have people traveling back and forth constantly for work that we are engaging with.

Better question: do you need to be vaccinated or just tested?

Headed that way in December

I have a trip in January and I am under the full belief that the vax passport system will be up and running for trans-Pacific travel lol
