Has anyone been to Chicago for New Year's?

Me and the GF are headed up to Chicago for New Year's. Looking for any suggestions on spots we should make sure to go to and if anyone has experienced with NYE events or parties.
A lot of big hotels are hosting events but those kind of feel like the standard nola events we have been to that is more about being seen than getting down.
Currently thinking about going to The Mid Nightclub for NYE but wanted to see what y'all have to say before buying our tickets.

Like any big city, it's what you'll expect for NYE. The clientele and atmosphere won't be much different at clubs than your standard Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, restaurants put on great events and bars/pubs have cheaper deals with just as fun of a crowd. Depends what you're looking for. If club, Mid is a good option. I'm doing Bar Siena in West Loop, which is close by. It's a great mix between bar and restaurant. If you'd prefer a bar/pub, look into Lincoln Park and Old Town.

Kinda looking for a dance party that we can get kinda dressy at.
The GF is vetoing Galantis at the Aragon though which has been a bummer of a battle.

Have not been there in years. Decided it was too cold for me, now I head south.

The wife and I headed there as well. We are going to the NHL Winter Classic New Years day in Notre Dame stadium. I found this website to be pretty helpful... https://www.choosechicago.com/events-and-shows/new-years-eve-guide/
