Know that you will be amazed. Hopefully the skies are clear for you. You can see a beautiful sky anywhere in the region. I live in Alpine, the night skies always amaze me.

Try McDonald observatory near Fort Davis. They have nights open to the public. On moonless nights the show is particularly amazing.

A few years ago I rented a house just outside Ft Davis, just across a canyon from the observatory for Persied meteor shower. Spent entire night on an inflatable mattress watching. Was indescribable .
