Looking for family trip ideas and thinking about a road trip through Texas. Is this place nice as a stop for a few days? Curious about others’ experience. TIA

Highly recommended.
How old are your kids?
I've been there twice with my kids. First time they were about 4 and 6. Second time they were 10 and 12. The second trip was spur of the moment ... we packed up in BR 2 days after hurricane Ida and went to Great Wolf because I knew we'd be out of power for several days and schools were closed.
In terms of water activities, I would have to say that kids under 10 would probably have more fun because there are more things to do for them, especially if you go when the outdoor stuff is closed. The outdoor slides and pools seem more geared to older kids. Also, the indoor non-water activities seem more geared to younger kids.
Depending on when you go, you could get a great deal. The first time we went was our spring break, and we went in the middle of the week. The second time, after hurricane Ida, was also in the middle of the week. I think both times I paid a base rate of about $120 per
night. Texas/Dallas stacks on a lot of charges on top of that. Still in all, I think that's a good price for any hotel in Dallas metro. Weekends are more expensive. Check out their deals in advance. Also, weekdays would be less crowded. Overall, the place is nice and clean. The food is kind of expensive, but you don't have to eat there. Lots of food places nearby.
Also, right nearby is the Grape Vine mall, which has a nice Lego Discovery Center and a nice aquarium. We went to both each time we went. And of course you're in Dallas metro so there's tons of stuff to do.

Been wondering about this for a 2 1/2 to 3 year old(depends on when we go). Do they keep it somewhat warm in there ? Is he old enough for it ? He loves water stuff. Also our youngest will be almost 1 but really going for the older one.
Was going to start a thread on this myself. Looking at Great wolf or something similar. We were looking at the one by the Alabama Georgia line. It's 2 hours closer.

I believe they keep the temperature (air and water) at 82 in the indoor water park area. My kids never complained about it feeling cold. We would usually hit the water for about 2 hours, then take a few hours break, then hit the water again for another hour or two. I could only take about 2 hours in the water before I wanted to go dry off. If you go into the indoor water park area in street clothes (and not get in the water) you will be quite warm.
For the smallest kids, there is a large indoor kiddie wave pool / slide area, so that will keep them occupied. I would say most of the indoor water park stuff (wave pool, lazy river, water slides) are geared for 5 to 10 year olds.

It's great for younger kids (under 12) for about two days max.
Sign up for their email list NOW, and they'll send you all kinds of coupons to stay much cheaper.
The Magic Quest wand game thing can add up money quickly, lol.

Great place. Book via Groupon. May not get your room choice but it makes it much cheaper.
Kids love it. They have become experts at extracting money for everything though.

I see Great Wolf Lodge mentioned a lot but never Kalahari in Round Rock. Not sure which way you're heading but worth to check out.

Took my kids to Kalahari for 6 days last summer and they had a blast. We went right when they got out of school and Texas was still in, so it was deserted the first 3 or 4 days.
Awesome place, but very expensive. I think I spent 10k for 6 days.

Went about a month ago during the week and it was super cheap nightly rate. I have a 6 and 2 y/o and they both had a blast. Food was expensive. We ate dinner one night there and the bill was $150 and both kids had chicken tenders. Breakfast buffet was $80 the next morning. I also drank most of the time so my costs are probably going to be more than yours. Spent probably another $100 at the arcade and another $50 on the magic wand shite. Overall though we had a great time as a family.

I'm Marriott, so I went to the Gaylord a mile away from Great Wolf. My kids were 7 and 9, I think, at the time, and they had fun. Notre Dame was there for a bowl game.
My only drawback would be that their water activities are all outdoor, which in Dallas means they're unusable until April. However, they do have cool events inside the hotel (Winter Wonderland, which is a giant ice park they build in the hotel, etc.)
We went to the aquarium about two miles east, Legoland is ten minutes away, etc. You don't need to depend on Great Wolf to provide all the fun.

We brought the kids there a couple months ago for first time bc wife’s sister gave us a gift card to use.
It was alright. Really too crowded for my liking and like all water parks really brings out lots of different people.
My 6 year old really liked it, but I doubt I’ll want to go again anytime soon.

What the actual F? I think I spent $800 for two nights, with parking ($40), for the Gaylord.
