She was hit by a vehicle outside of the park last night.

My heart is broken!

I follow a few Tetons/Yellowstone pages on social media

I always thought it was a little weird the way people idolized this bear.

Now that she's dead its even worse. People posting multiple paragraph eulogies about a fricking bear. Kinda strange

She was by far the oldest known bear in the area and often ended up being pretty close to people on roadsides, etc, but never harmed anyone. She had an estimated 22 cubs and grandcubs. There were childrens books written about her.

It's pretty easy to see how people can become attached to something like that.
