So looking for an adult only all inclusive resort for a 10 year anniversary trip with the wife.

After reading previous threads I was leaning towards Excellence Playa Mujeres but it looks like for my stay all the Excellence club suites are sold out. Sticking with the Excellence brand I then looked at Excellence Riviera Cancun and saw EXCELLENCE CLUB JUNIOR SWIM UP SUITE OCEAN VIEW for $3400 (5 nights)...

We aren't looking to leave the resort so area and proximity to town really doesn't matter just looking for best accommodations, premium booze, beds on the beach and restaurants. Also don't want something to hotel like, we like the wide open feel of the resorts

Any other resorts to look into?

Unico Riviera Maya

Stayed here over the summer for Honeymoon. It is adults only and was great.

Actually I just checked out the one you posted and that seems better.

what made you pick this one over some of the bigger brands like Excellence?

Costco Travel, it was a newer resort. Better price from others we looked at.

yea it was one my cousin/ travel agent mentioned.

Alcoba Ocean View King $3,636.70

Just from first look seemed more hotel like than resort like

Not sure what you are looking for exactly but I was hoping for a better beach experience. At the time we went seaweed was everywhere. I still got in the water but it wasn't what I expected. With that said the service, restaurants, and drinks were great. I would definitely go back for another trip.

my best beach experience was a sandals Jamaica resort where I had a bed on the beach in a cabana and waiters bringing food and drink all day. the reviews for the one you mentioned said the beach was crappy also said the wine was terrible which would be a deal breaker for the wife

We've stayed at both and actually prefer Riviera Maya to Playa Mujeres

Check out Le Blanc. Stayed there a few years ago over 4th of July. Staff went above and beyond. Not a very big resort but the pool was nice. We stayed in an ocean front suite and will definitely go back again.

We're going to El Dorado Seasidue Suites by Karisma in about 3 weeks. Hear nothing but good things. I'll report back after our trip.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico

I have clue why it never gets mentioned. Nicest resort in Riviera Maya

More relaxing and quiet. This very well could be because of the times we went.

We went to Riviera middle of March and Playa week of July 4th.

Wife and I went there 2 years ago and it was excellent. The food was the best out of all the AI’s we’ve been to over the last 10 years.

Our 20th is in June and we will most likely be heading back to Riviera Maya.

My wife and I are going to Beloved (an excellence property) in PM next week.

I'll report back.
