There's a Mi Cocina in Klyde Warren if you don't want to venture too far for dinner Friday night. Also, The Nodding Donkey is a great spot to watch college football in Uptown and you can take the free M-Line trolley there from downtown.

Was thinking about heading to klyde Warren park for the food trucks

Food trucks in Dallas are not that great. Klyde Warren is a nice idea but its not a great place to hang out when the weather is hot as it likely will be. Downtown doesn't have much going on, AT&T District has potential, its a nice new plaza surrounded my restaurants, but most of them are closing for lack of business. My suggestion is to go to Uptown, Henderson Avenue or Lower Greenville which are all a 5 minute uber ride from downtown.

Naw, its only good for live music and it does get sketchy at night. Again, Uptown, Henderson or Lower Greenville. On Lower Greenville Stans Blue Note is a good sports bar, Dodies (LSU Bar) is good and Avenue Sports Grill, owned by a family from NOLA who also have reacquired Dodies after losing the rights to the name in a legal dispute, is a good place with above average food. If you go to Avenue Grill, you can bar hop all along Greenville.

You can also try Perry's for Porkchop Friday lunch.

You’re not far from Bishop Arts district in Oak Cliff. Much better eats than downtown & Klyde Warren, IMO. Really cool vibe there as well. I recommend this Mexican dive called El Jordan for breakfast. You can catch the Dallas Streetcar at Union Station to get down there.

Lower Greenville is definitely a great spot for bar hopping. There’s some good eats there, too.

Design District north of downtown along Riverfront/Oak Lawn/Irving Blvds has some great spots to eat as well. Also a few bars mixed in.

The Owners Box at the Omni downtown is great for catching the games.

Uptown: Haywire, Mexican Sugar, North Italia, El Fenix.

Victory: Mesero. Several great bars there, too.

Bishop Arts district

It's a cool area but not as many sports bars there. PhD Pour House is one that I e watched games at. I'm sure there are some others but I can't think of them. A lot of bars have TVs but not big screens. But I'm not usually down there to go to sports bars.

deep Ellum? I heard it can get a little sketchy

Unless it's changed drastically in the past few years, I didn't get this impression at all. We went for a bachelor party in 2019 and at no point did I feel relatively sketched out.

Gus' Fried Chicken was great for a late-night snack. We did a bar crawl along there and I remember Deep Ellum Distillery being good.

Edit: decided to check on google and it appears the distillery may be closed now. I just remembered from looking at pictures that we were in Lower Greenville one night, and that was maybe a better spot for bar hopping.

my son lives in the lower greenville area. He seems to find a lot of bars!

Another place if the weather is nice would be Katy Trail Ice House. But it will probably still be hot as Hades that weekend.

4 years is a long time ago. And yes, Deep Ellum was still pretty good way back then.
