Depending on where your boat rental is on lake go to wild horse island and try to find the big horn sheep. Also be aware of the weather while on the lake. Wind picks up and the lake almost looks like the ocean with waves.

I had a friend recently tell me the same thing regarding the wind and lake conditions. Per my research, I learned the lake is the largest west of the Mississippi.

We are renting towards the north part of the lake to try to reduce driving time, but I keep reading about wild horse island and may have to reconsider.

They often open up closer to the date. Too many people book ahead to secure a spot. Keep trying. It’s a perfect central spot. We have so stayed in that one a short walk down hill from MGL and waited and moved up. No comparison. That might be the one you are doing but I think it might be the Swiftcurrent inn. I’ve lost track.

If you find a bar that has Lewis and Clark Brewery’s Miners Gold on tap, grab a pint … or two.

Going on the list lol.

In a facebook group I saw a lot of people mention getting a park map or sorts from Hike 734. It's $15, so I figured why not. But from the one thread I read at least 25% of the responses mentioned this map for planning day hikes. I'll let yall know what I think once I get it.
