flying into a meeting and going straight back to the airport and flying somewhere else.. things like that.

I'm flying AUS-IAH-DFW tomorrow, spending less than 20 hours in DFW for a meeting, and flying DFW-IAH-AUS back. I'll be gone a grand total of 27 hours.

It's not interesting enough for a story

After 10 years of corporate travel (sure many on here have more) I have almost 2million miles with Delta. I figure I have taken close to 1500 delta flights in my life. My one year high was 223. That won’t happen again.

Longest domestic day was MSY-ATL-DCA… get off for a 90 minute meeting… back to airport to go DCA-DTW-SFO. Literally hit the gulf coast, east coast, north border, and west coast in one day.

Happy to share enough stories to fill a damn book.

My longest domestic day was one winter.
Left the house at 5am for an early morning direct flight to Orange County.
Landed at LAX at midnight (PST) and arrived by bus in OC around 330 am.

Crazy day.

Ouch! Delays/cancellations I suppose?

One day I did fly to Sacramento for a 15 minute presentation. It was a power move by a client to try to put pressure on me. I called his bluff and went in person. Left and went back to SMF for a redeye.

What in the world do you do?

I'm usually your typical M-Th. consultant but occasionally have one off trips like the one tomorrow.

It was icy in Atlanta but I figured I was going west so if I could just get in the air I’d be fine.
My flight was supposed to be going to SanDiego non stop but it was delayed several hours so I booked an earlier one to OC through SLC (I forgot that part).
After a delay we got in the air but by the time we got to SLC I’d missed my flight to OC.
“Fortunately” there was one more that night and I got on it.
We took off and just as we are airborne the pilot comes on and says we have to go back to SLC because they can’t determine that the landing gear came up.
We land back in SLC with fire trucks all over the place but no issues.
Turns out it was just a small issue so we take off again.
About 1/2 hour in we are informed we are rerouting to LAX because we would not make it to Orange County by 10. And you can’t land there after 10. Noise ordinance.
We get to LAX and they’d arranged a bus to take us to SNA (OC).
That’s it. CSB.
Haha!

True.
After a while it was just fun. An adventure to try and get there.

Healthcare Consulting. I was in delivery. Now essentially am CEO of the consulting and managed services division.

Makes sense, I had an ex-GF that was in Healthcare consulting. I've spent my career in Financial Services consulting, doing mostly strategy work now. After Covid, a lot of my stuff went remote, especially with most of my clients on the east coast and me being in Austin.

I know nothing about the healthcare field, but it definitely sounds like it has brought on some adventures with the amount of miles you have.

Yeah healthcare went remote for a while. I was at home from 3/20-4/21 and it drove me crazy. I just never find working and driving results as productive. That coupled with the human connection and interaction needed to build trust, I basically forced my way back on site. Some are still resistant at times but when you create value for them their opinion suddenly changes.

I'm trying to do that on my current client. Prior one was 4 days onsite a week while we have met in person one time, for the kickoff, and that was back in October.

You can't implement a new strategic direction from your house IMO but a lot of their workforce is still remote.
