Flying out of Lafayette this weekend and haven’t done so in years. Am I wrong for thinking if I get there an hour before flight I’ll be fine? Or will it be packed with people leaving for Mardi Gras?

There were a total of 9 flights today out of LFT. Only time I'd expect a wait at TSA is if there are 2 flights going out at the same time. What times your flight?

Not sure about now but the morning flights can surprise you with the line.

There's a flight at 610, 710, and 715am. I think if you get there by 615am you'll be good. If you go earlier, you'll likely be stuck in security for the first flight.

You've obviously never flown out of LFT in the AM...

I've done an afternoon flight from there but you are correct no morning flights. In my mind this is a numbers game though.

The 6am flight is a CRJ700 with 65 seats (AA is booking all 65)
The 7am flight is an E145 with 50 seats (United is booking all 50)
The 715am flight is a CRJ900 with 76 seats (delta is booking up to 75%/ 57 seats)

So if OP gets there at 515am, he could potentially get stuck with all 172 people in line and he would have to wait longer until his flight. If he gets there by 6/615am, he is guaranteed to only have a maximum of 107 people in line.

I like flying out of Lafayette. I've never had a lot of trouble getting through security. I haven't flown since Covid. We flew out of Houston for our last trip. Once we broke down drive to Houston, staying in a Hotel, etc. Its worth paying to fly out of Lafayette.

I usually get there 1.5-2 hours early just to be safe.

Its obviously better during the pandemic.

Pre 2020, there were 6 flights between 6 and 7:30 with one slow TSA lane.

It became easier to take evening flights and overnight at airport hotels.

Might be a good idea to call ahead and find out what time security opens.

an hour ahead is plenty, especially if you check in the night before

Not if you have an early morning flight. It gets packed as frick early in the morning and there is only one security line

Anything after that and yeah you should be fine getting there right before
