Exuma Bahamas questions

Headed to Exuma early June with 6 adults. We’re renting a house in February Point which looks to be a mile from George Town. Renting a boat for three days and exploring Exuma by land for two.
Can anyone suggest some good restaurants or bars in and around George Town? Any good fish fry’s or beach parties?
Any must see sights on the island or by boat?
How are grocery and liquor stores?
Thanks for your help!

Just got back last wknd.
Being u are that close to georgetown, u will be fine for groceries/liquor/beer as there are a couple stores in georgetown.
We stayed 20 miles west of georgetown so cant help with close restaurants.
When u go to boat rental (assuming minns watersports) they will give u a map. Go to the east end of “sandollar beach”, u will see a cut that runs to the atlantic. Anchor just off this sandbar an hour before low tide. (Watch your boat cause it drops quick)
The sandbar becomes dry at low tide but leaves about a 50’ wide x 8’ deep channel. Easy snorkeling with lots of starfish, sandollars and conchs for the grabbing.
Bring the conchs to chat n chill cove and get the conch man to make u a fresh conch salad and get food n drink from the grill on the island.
I highly recomend ditching the boat one day and doing a whole day adventure excursion with a tour. We used robert’s island adventures bc he has 2 smaller boats (36’) and limits them to about 10-12 people per boat. His tour covers alot of water to the west and last from 8:30-3:30, with a stop at a cay for a local lunch. We got to do all the things, snorkel a gratto, swim with pigs, feed iguanas, hold nurse sharks, feed sea turtles. I think we covered around 60-70 miles roundtrip.

We rented a place at February Point a few years ago and rented a little Boston Whaler for the week from Minns; it was a great trip; There is a grocery shop near the harbor (where the boats are stored) that is just a 5-10 min boat ride from February point. All necessary provisions are available there; be prepared to pay though. Cases of beer were over $50; rum is quite cheap; we would make a trip there on the boat most mornings and bring stuff back to February Point on the boat.
Definitely take the boat to Stocking Island and visit Chat n Chill. Great spot to hang and I think they roast a pig there on Sundays; conch burger is awesome there too and it's just a fun spot. Can wade and hang in the clearest water on earth; the big rays come up and swim near you which is cool.
Great places to snorkel all around that area; GPS maps are available for the buoys; I'd recommend bringing your own snorkel equipment but you can buy/rent from Minns if that's something you're interested in doing.
We had a really good dinner at Cheaters which was a brief ride from February Point and really good fried lobster tails at little spot beach side in Williams Town too. Also hit Peace & Plenty and Charlies in Georgetown; both had music and food and good times.
We ate one night at the restaurant at February Point and it was decent. We loved Stocking Island though and spent a ton of time at Chat n Chill and the Beacon restaurant..
I wouldn't swim at February Point btw.. charter fisherman clean their fish there in the evenings and I saw quite a few sharks in that spot..
If you're not renting a car, ask your cab driver for his phone number and he'll be more than happy to drive for you anytime you need it.
Anyway, if you have any other questions, let me know.

Is there much to see and do in Georgetown or the other towns in Exuma? Any particular sights to see by car?
Thanks again

Nothing at all really

Just the different beach spots. Car is great to get to and from boat or store. Most of the sights you will want to see are by boat.
The best meal we had during our stay was a roadside shack between Georgetown and our Airbnb up by Mosstown. We didn't see many restaurants around besides "Catch a Fire" which was a fun dinner but obnoxiously long wait for a table. We ended getting lit at the bar while waiting.

I just booked a trip for July. Very excited, this will be my first Bahamas trip.
Does anyone know how long it takes to get up to Pig Beach/Staniel Cay by boat from Great Exuma? We'll be staying at the Northern part of the island in Rolleville and I'm wondering whether or not it'll be smarter to rent a boat and go up there on our own or do a tour. I'd like to have time to go at my own pace, but if it's a haul I'll probably go with the tour.

An hour or so, can get pretty choppy also.
Would not try on your own in anything less than a 26’ boat

Thanks for the reply. I did some more digging last night after posting and it looks like Minn's keeps you in a designated area anyway. I'll probably book from them for a day and do a tour another day.

Thats what we did. We used robert’s island adventures for the tour, his boats take smaller groups (12 or less)

How is the boat ride (we'll have own boat not tour) from George Town to Sandy Cay? Looks to be a little over 20 miles from Feb Point which seems doable on a calm day.
Also any fishing tips in and around Exuma (trolling and bottom fishing)?
Thanks!

Bump, anyone been lately? Have a boat rental from Minn's one day and a tour with Exuma Watersports another, any suggestions on what to do on the lay days? Drive around to different beaches, etc? Has anyone else done the Exuma Watersports tour? What was your experience?

Used them in December and they have a great tour. Beer, water, and soda on board the boat. We went to pig beach, iguana island, and snorkeling. At pig beach the tour people were able to have us hold stingrays, which was incredible. Can’t wait to go back and do another tour with them.
