I am interested in getting a drone to film landscapes that I visit when I travel. Anyone have one they recommend?

do you have budget or size requirements?

DJI drones are pretty much top of the mark for most folks

Mavic 2 Pro if you want great video quality. 1 inch sensor and good flight time.

Or Mavic Air with smaller sensor is okay too. Real world flight time is like 15 minutes per battery which is not very good.

If you don't need 4k, Mavic Mini is a great drone.

I've got a mavic air and love it. The mavic mini would probably cover everything you need and has little longer flight time. I have two batteries. It is becoming tougher to fly when traveling. I think the mini might have fewer restrictions so you might want to look at that.

This always sounds good to me after watching YouTube videos but then you get home with all that unedited footage and it's a real bear.

That's my experience with action cameras anyway.

Editing photos is much easier. I think it's because my laptops aren't built to handle video editing at all.

If you need something to edit I suggest DaVinci Resolve. It is powerful, has tons of how to videos on YouTube, and is free!

I have a DJI Phantom 4. I haven't flown any other drones though.

The General Atomics MQ-1 Predator is a personal favorite of mine. Precision aerial imaging from miles away and you don’t need line of sight to control it. Also has quite a range on it at around 24 hours.

I like the DJI Phantom series as well.

The DJI Mini or Parrot Anafi are good.
The Anafi has a 4k camera and can recharge via USB as opposed to using a separate charger.

I have been researching since starting this thread. I am torn between the Mavic Pro 2 and Mavic Mini. Anyone familiar with both?

Is the Mavic 2 Pro's video and picture quality good enough to justify it being over three times the cost of the Mavic Mini and the hassle of having to register it due to size as well as travel with it? Keep in mind that (like a lot of people here) I travel a lot so I'm not going to be keeping it in the neighborhood. I want to be able to take it to remote areas and film cool mountains and other shite like that.

As I have gotten older my spending philosophy has been that if I really want something get the best from the start instead wasting money with a cheaper version first and then getting the good one.

So I dunno...
