Croatia is on my short list of places i want to travel. Thanks for the review. The islands, beach, waters, ancient fortresses and culture all seem so intriguing
Yeah, im sold. The food looks great too. Any language barriers?

And with the war for their independence taking place in the 1990s, (The Fall of Yugoslavia), I found the history behind this very interesting. So many left over signs of the war just from traveling between the cities. We even visited a war museum in Dubrovnik that I enjoyed. I've already watched one documentary on it since I've been home because I found it so interesting.

The language barriers were few and far between. The vast majority of Croatians could speak English as well, or atleast well enough for us to communicate. We only ran into a few people who we had trouble talking to. Just about all of their signs, restaurant menus, parking meters, etc. are labeled in both Croatian and English so it was pretty easy getting around.

Looks like an awesome trip. How did you go about finding the airbnbs? Do they have a lockbox or did you have to meet someone?
Looking forward to the rest.

They all had "hosts". Some were the owner, some were hired by the owner. I had all of them saved in a GPS app on my phone before we left the states. Within about 6 hours of arriving, we would either message them on Airbnb or call/text them to let them know when we would be there. They would open the house for us, give us a tour, and leave the keys. Only once was the host/owner not able to meet us, but she left the keys for us at a restaurant across the street.
This was my first experience using Airbnb and it really went smooth as could be. We stayed in some nice places and our total was $1,000 per couple for 10 nights, so average of $100 per night was not bad at all considering some of the places we stayed.

It really was, we were even contemplated trying to cancel one of our nights in Dubrovnik so we could stay an additional night here

Updated with Mostar, Bosnia, better late than never.
Also, any idea why I'm not seeing any of my photos anymore, other than just the links? Ain't no way in hell anyone is going to click on all of those links to look at the pictures.

I clicked on the links. But it was just the latest additions since I've have been reading this thread as you've made updates, so it wasn't too bad. Plus we're looking at making this trip next spring. You flew Condor, what was your route and cost. We're seeing about $1600 per couple to Zagreb and $1720 to Dubrovnik, both from MSY. But the layover in Frankfurt is long.

It was $1,500 for wife and I round trip MSY to Zagreb. We paid about $500 extra for exit row seating though which was 100% worth the money for the extra leg room. Regular economy at the time was around $1000 for us. Since we ended our trip in Dubrovnik, we had to catch a short flight from Dubrovnik to Zagreb, I think this was around $200 bucks or so for the two of us. We also had long layovers in Frankfurt, but it wasn't too bad. Buy a train ticket and take a 15 minute ride into Frankfurt to kill some time.
Route Going Over
MSY > Frankfurt > Zagreb
Route Coming Home
Dubrovnik > Zagreb > Frankfurt > MSY

Great post. I spent a four day weekend in Dubrovnik a few years ago and it's probably one of the best trips I've taken. And that's with me taking a trip just about every month all over Europe for almost a year(stationed in Germany at the time).

The lack of wifi on Condor drives me freaking bonkers.

Just realized yesterday I had never finished sharing the final stop on our trip from 4 years ago. Better late than never I guess. Unfortunate I didn't do it sooner as now I've forgotten alot of the details on places we ate, etc.
