My strategy is to find the biggest water bottle I can find in the airport and take it on the plane and slowly sip it throughout the flight with my mask around my chin.
It's worked so far - not one flight attendant has said anything nor has any passenger said anything.

I can second this. I had asked for advice upthread on flying with a 3 year old, and we brought enough snacks for 2 hours. My kid made the trip like a champ, and no one said anything to us.
