Coronavirus? Cruise to Italy and Greece

Wife and I taking a cruise to Italy and Greece in Sept, Oct. Got email from travel agent that our 3 options are:
1. Move trip back one year, same price- we don’t want to do this
2. Full refund
3.Go as planned this Sept& Oct.
What does eveyone think.
Agent said we need to make decision in 3 wks, but we were told that we could cancel 90 days before trip with full refund.

This would be what I'd do if you confirm that. That's if you think you could book something else to do during that planned time off if you do pull that option.
Wait and see approach.
Dick move if your agent tried to scare you into a commitment to guarantee their commission.

I'd bet you'd be good to go by then, so full steam ahead! I look at it this way, these cruise lines live by image and reputation. The LAST thing they'd want you to do is feel like you had to board then something bad happens. Think of the lawsuits and reputation hits.
But, as Teddy noted, "90 days before trip with full refund" is great. Just calendar Day 89 and see if there's still a world by then.
We can die from a lot of things, so just roll the dice and make the call.

Yes, I emailed her that we choose the option of waiting, since we were told we could cancel with full refund 90 days prior.
Lets see how she responds?

She claimed that trip insurance doesn’t cover Coronavirus.

That would depend. LINK
IF you bought it, there are riders that cover various things for an extra cost. If you chose "just because I want to" coverage, it's probably covered. If not, then you have to wade into the carriers "Current Events" section and see how they're handling it. I linked our carrier's advisory in the link above. If your cruise line canceled, if you got quarantined, these could be "events" where coverage kicks in potentially.
She can't just say it doesn't. The answer is "it would depend". Read the fine print to make sure IF you bought it (we do for big trips).
Good luck.

I agree with full refund if OP can't exercise the 90 day option.
Better to have the money now to have options to rebook the cruise (which may be cheaper) or alternative plans.

I got an email offering a free ocean view room and casino credit for several 8-12 day European sailings. I just laughed. Not happening.

Curious as to what OP decided to do. I’d take the full refund. Think of those poor SOBs stuck on that ship off the coast of Cali. Ugh.

What has the virus got to do with your guarantee to cancel 90+ days out w/ a full refund? Can you not wait til late June and cancel for another reason?
What are the reasons you can cancel 90 days out?

I would have taken full refund. People will be scared to take cruises for awhile so you possibly could have got an even better deal if you still wanted to go.

That is probably a good bet; even if it blows over sooner rather than later the cruise lines may be offering good deals to attract customers back.
Just saw where the CDC (I think) warned us about getting on cruise ships & airplanes. That’s not good for business.

I'd take the full refund and see about booking it myself for way cheaper.
