We were there almost at the same time, I seem to remember being there maybe a week or so before you.
Yes it is crowded but for me it didn't matter too much. It was lovely and a cool experience.
Our favorite restaurant was Miky Cantina in Monterosso.
White wine, anchovies, and pesto are all a must. If you don't have all three you are really doing yourself a disservice.
And make friends with the owners of El Pirata and have one of their cannolis.

My intention isn't to shite all over your experience or anyone else's, for that matter. Anything I'm stating about CT is from my own personal opinion and experiences. I'm really glad y'all enjoyed yourselves - I do remember that you were going right around the same time as us now that you mention it.

I mean, how can a place like this be bad? We were there in July and it wasn't packed. The orange building at the top right, you see an umbrella, that was a small restaurant. Holy shite it was good. I had a simple salmon panini and it was out of this world. Now sitting there over looking the Med Sea didn't hurt.

Very touristy by day. almost dead at night. Stay in the central town and hike to other towns or take the train during the day.

but we’ve also done Puglia on the Adriatic coast and stayed in Polignano a Mare and that is highly recommended, as well, though harder to access via public transportation (my preference) than Cinque Terre.
Yes to Puglia. I’ll be there in October?

Stayed 3 nights there I believe... in monterosso, it’s the one that has sandy beach and most restaurants/night life. Hiked everyday to different towns, would swim and cliff jump in different areas. Take train back. Ate mussels and drank wine for every meal. Can’t wait to go back
