Just got an email that my 10am( non refundable) flight got changed to the "red-eye" leaving at 12:59 am and also added a second stop. Tried to call delta but keep getting "they're unable to take my call due to high call volumes". Looking at their site there are no other decent flights to switch to. Would I be eligible for a refund bc of a significant flight downgrade? I can't even get anyone to reply on the online help thing. What a shite show.

The customer service has been horrendous lately, I tried calling multiple times over the last few days about a voucher I'm trying to use.

They will probably just give you a voucher as that is what they did for me.

By law you can get a refund if they change your flight

I would think so but it's saying otherwise on their site.

I really don't want a voucher. The only other flight is 9 am getting me home at 9pm with a long layover in Atlanta. Not to mention its more expensive and my voucher would still have me coming out of pocket another 200 bucks. I'd prefer just a refund but if I have to switch I am not paying a fare difference. That's bullshite.

You should be able to call the delta 1-800 number, and then select the option to have them call you back in X hours. For me, they have been nothing but accommodating on flights and making changes.

It didn't give me that option. Just said to message them on the app. I did that and have been awaiting a reply via text for about 3 hours now.

united rules are change must be over 6 hours for a refund and no stipulation for changing from one stop to two so I took the voucher

Alaska Air refunds if flight change is over 1 hour

Law for refund is if flight is cancelled not changed

Will have to talk to Delta on their specific policy

Well the airlines were recently sued and the courts decided if they change your flight your entitled to a full refund. You have to ask but they must give it to you

By law you are entitled to refund not a credit per the DOT. Had same thing happen and although it took forever to get ahold of someone I was issued a refund without issue, but overtly said I wanted a refund not a credit due to significant schedule change. Use Twitter or message in app are ways to get to customer service without the phone, or call late night. Ask to speak to someone else until you get real refund.

Are y'all 100% sure if it's a non refundable basic economy that I can get a full refund? That would be great bc AA has great flights that day for 222$( for me and wife total). If I booked that and got my 385$ back from delta I'd come out ahead.

Called Delta two days ago because I had a round trip flight booked that the times changed 5 different times. I was not able to talk with someone while going through their automated menu until the third time it finally let me through.

Update : called delta and said "make a reservation"... Got a call back in a little over an hour. Offered a free flight change but took the refund. Booked a better time with AA and will pocket about 200 bucks. Thanks for the feedback ..

Tell the auto-attendant it's for a "new reservation." Follow the instructions and press for a call back.

Thanks for this info!!!
I had rescheduled a March flight for June 1st that was cancelled by Delta. I continued to receive alerts about my connecting flight in Atlanta throughout the day though. I had read that they would work to refund / reschedule whatever worked for my party of 9 passengers, but have never been able to get through. Delta did text me a few weeks ago to try to help, but couldn't because I had 5 different reservations for 9 people using skymiles, companion certificates, and credits. I asked if we could speak live because of the complexity and was told "sorry, no - it's only online chat".I've called probably 50 times over the last 6 weeks to reschedule again, but never got through - it always hung up on me after a few options. I was just told to expect a call back in 2 hours and 6 minutes. We'll see how it goes.

The guidelines were that if your flight was delayed by more than 6 hours they have to give your money back. I’ve been fighting with United since April. Still going back and forth. Just be persistent. Was your return flight also changed drastically? Some airlines are saying it has to be both flights and not just one counts.

It was only my return flight. My flight there is with United. Flight added a stop and Went from 10am departure to 1am on the red-eye with stops in Minneapolis and Atlanta before getting home in Alexandria (aex). Talk about touching down in 4 of the top 5 american shitholes. (coming home from Seattle)

me too. They are adamant that if it is not over a 6 hour change no refund.

When I lived in Atlanta aka Delta Heaven. The code was ABD, Anybody but Delta. The screwed me on international flight last year. Refound was flight coupon on much less than I paid. Used the coupon and now never again Delta.
