Can someone explain Priority Pass with CSR to me?

So, with the fee increase coming for the CSR, I've been re-examining the benefits of the card. I don't fly a lot, but did see that it offers complementary airport lounge access via Priority Pass. I signed up and got the app installed showing this.
But when I go to priority pass's website, it mentions fees for entry, and I guess I'm not sure if the CSR is paying the annual fee (looks like it ranges from $99 to $500 depending on your level of access), and/or the individual cost when you enter?
It appears it can cost around $28 for entry looking at individual lounges on the site, and does that include food/drinks that are available?
I've never even considered this before, but I have a trip next week out of DCA where I will likely be at the airport 3 hours before flight, and one out of LAX in April with the same, and wondered if I could use this in those instances to relax and eat something?

Yeah, the CSR gives free access to Priority Pass lounges. There are also some airport restaurants that PP will give you a $28 credit.
I will say that Priority Pass is generally better in the rest of the world than in the USA.
Oh, by the way, MSY is getting a Priority Pass lounge (The Club) in the next couple of weeks.
The Amex Platinum cards and the Citi Prestige also have Priority Pass membership as part of their card benefits, and of course, Amex has their own Centurion lounge network as well (Centurion lounges are generally nicer than many PP lounges).

CSR includes Priority Pass access. You have to sign up through Chase and they will send you a card. Show the card at the lounge (physical card normally required) and boom, you're in.
Well that's how it works in theory. In practice, I've found that for peak times, many lounges have a sign prohibiting Priority Pass at that time. However, some airports have restaurants that are Priority Pass partners and give you a $28 food or drink credit. Solid backup option.

That was also sort of what I was seeing on the site, cause some of the locations, such as LEX had the "lounge" as a restaurant. And it mentioned $28, and I was wondering if that meant that if I used my card to pay in that location that it would be seen as priority pass and be credited to my card? Does that sound right?

I did, and it linked me to the Priority Pass app, which I installed, so that should work, show that on your phone?

Mentioned this in post above, how does that work, do you just pay with the CSR, and because of location, it knows that you are there as part of the priority plus perk and gives you a $28 credit if you spend that much or more?

Priority Pass had 2 restaurants at Reagan. American Tap Room in C and bracket Room in B.
priority Pass pays a fixed amount for each guest who enters a lounge, so instead Priority Pass is just paying these restaurants a fixed amount, and then you can spend some dollar amount at that restaurant (typically $28-30). Show them your card and use the amount allowed for food and booze. Play tip and any difference/overage.

Not all of the locations accept the digital pass...some require the physical card.
I've attempted to use the PP lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 at least twice and been unable to do so due to crowding. Literally couldn't fit another human in the place on one visit and was turned away b/c of capacity on one visit; they let us in on the other visit, but there was nowhere to sit and barely anywhere to stand. That particular lounge does have free food & beer.
I'd love to know which airports have restaurant alternatives--I couldn't really find it on the PP website...am I missing something obvious?

Use the app lounge buddy. You enter all of the credit cards and other memberships you are part of and it tells you all of the lounges in that airport, and which ones are included with what cards you have.

Hmm. I didn't see that option when I registered, it showed me the card, and gave me a print option, but I didn't see that it said they were sending me a card. Is the print version what is needed, or do I have to request a card?

The biggest issue I find with the PP lounges is overcrowding. Yesterday I was at Liberia airport and the lounge there had a 2 hr wait.
It is certainly an added benefit however I would keep in mind you very rarely will actually get to use it. The restaurant credit is the best thing it offers but again, the restaurants are few and far between and are often in other terminals.
Skyclub, centurion are way better.

The membership that CSR gives you is the premium membership with 10 free visits.
You need to sign up via your card, and they will work with PP to get you your membership and send you the card/info via mail.
That being said, if you are thinking of the benefits of CSR vs AmexPlatinum, now that they are both $550, it depends how you use it.
Amex Platinum has:
- the monthly Uber credits
- more lounges (Delta when flying Delta, Centurion, Escape collection, Lufthansa lounges, Plaza Premium lounges, Airspace lounges, and all Priority Pass via membership)
- $200 single-airline credit for non-ticket fees (bags/upgrade, booze, etc)(CSR $300 flex is better)
- automatic Gold with Hilton and Marriott,
- Concierge that truly works
- newly added travel cancellation/delay insurance
- International Airline Program with great deals
All these make it worth the $550 to me, and the points system is secondary in my opinion. I would get this at $550/yr if it wasn't even a credit card and was just some club thing
Now on the other hand, the CSR is now $550, and doesn't include all the lounges or upgrades, the Uber credits etc. It now offers Lyft membership, but I never use Lyft anyhow. But CSR has a better points system, but less of the perks

I haven’t gotten much out of the PP membership.
As others have said, not a lot of lounges in the US and most of them are in international terminals in my experience.
I mostly fly domestic so it becomes more trouble than it’s worth.

Good info, thanks.
The benefits you mention sound great, but I probably don't travel enough to benefit from them.
Ultimately I don't travel that much currently, and no internationally at all. I got the CSR when it was new and offered 100K points, my wife got one as well.
Now I have 600K points, but am thinking I might need to downgrade to the CSP.
Need to figure out how that change would devalue my points, I guess for direct exchange with the UR portal, it would be 1.5 to 1.25 per point.

My household is also carrying two b/c of the huge signup bonus, and we are dropping to one. I will likely downgrade my CSR to the CSP...husband will keep his. Discovered that you can transfer UR points between household members with a near-instant credit. So I can toss my points into his account to take advantage of the higher redemption rate.

We should do this as well, my wife rarely uses hers, had a $19 balance last month, lol. Maybe we should downgrade hers to CSP, keep mine and transfer her points to me to book things.
By the way, we did that once a while back, was easy to do, but I tried to do it again recently and it told me I couldn't do it at that time, so not sure if they only allow you to transfer at certain times or not, might need to call them.
Side question: If my wife gave up her CSR, closed the account, and I got the points moved, could she apply for the CSR and get the sign up bonus? Is there a time frame you would have to wait to do so?

She doesn't have to close the account---she can have it downgraded to a Preferred account.
But prev poster is right. No signup bonus if you've had a bonus within the last 48 mos.

48 months.
Wow. Have to think about that, she got her CSR in October 2016, so if we cancel before October, she will be right at the 48 month mark.

But she wouldn't get bonus if she downgraded, right, even at 48 months?

The clock starts when you “receive” a bonus
After that, it has to be 48 months to get another Sapphire product bonus. You can’t hold multiple sapphire accounts so she would need to cancel it for a month or so prior to reapplication.
