We live in Lafayette out of LFT. We carry on but American, Delta, and United all use the smaller planes. They all make you gate check your bags. Waiting for your bags after landing is a pain. Are the planes bigger for the outgoing flights at BTR? Overhead bin space? TIA

I don’t think there’s a plane model smaller for delta than the one that flies in and out of BTR.

If you get a 717 out of BTR on Delta then they may fit your bags in the overheads. The CRJ-700s, 900s, and ERJ-145s will not fit those. The other option you could do is at the gate ask them if they can check your bag all the way to the final destination so you don't have to wait to pick it up at the connecting airport. Just an idea

AA and UA both fly E175’s regularly to BTR, they have full sized overhead bins. DL flies mainline 717, also full sized bins. Like others have said, avoid E145’s & CRJ’s if you don’t want to gate check.
