Anyone that's been here under similar conditions, what should I expect? What are some indoor activities in the area to do with kids, or will any rain in the area be brief?
On the plus side, highs will be 68-70 degrees, and the low will consistently be around 55 deg.

It’s the afternoon monsoons. the mornings are clear and sunny right? Wake up early and do your outdoor activities in the morning. Get home when the thunderstorms start and have a great nap.

In other words, there is a 60% chance of no rain.
Seriously though, we spent a week in the area last July. It only rained in the afternoon. Every afternoon there seemed to be rain in the area. Sometimes it rained where we were that day, sometimes it didn’t, but there was always rain that could be seen not too far away.
Like previous poster said, start your days early and you will be fine.

That's not my experience in the mountains. 40% is a fairly good bet of getting some rain. I've been using precip %s over 30% to time precip and guess intensity.

Yep.
The big thing is to not be caught above the treeline when the lightning is popping and it'll be small hail above 11k most likely.

We were just there a few weeks ago with a similar forecast. Every day was a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain and what we experienced were very light showers late afternoons that didn’t last very long. Nothing like the heavy rains we get here in Louisiana. We could still walk downtown in rain jackets during the sprinkles to get from place to place.
Do all your outdoor stuff in the mornings in early afternoon.

Yes, it's never going to be an all day washout. Even Wednesday of last week, when it rained all day, was never extremely heavy. These rainy days always have the storms show up in the afternoon.
Like I said, I've been using the percentages more to gauge when and how intense because I've yet to see a 40% day here that didn't yield some rain.
