Sounds like a nice trip y'all are putting together.

If you have any questions specific to Boston I'm happy to help out.

Three - Good to hear, MV is where my wife wants to stay if that's the route we take. Anything in particular that y'all did that we need to do if we go that route? Places to eat? How long did y'all stay?

Nichol - the batting practice tour sounds awesome! Will definitely look into it! When I went as a teenager we did a tour of the stadium on an off-day and I absolutely loved it. Such an incredible stadium and atmosphere. Hope to talk my wife into catching a couple of games instead of just the one.

Noted -- surprised to hear you say Nantucket was harder to get around than MV, figured it'd be the apposite since MV is much better. Guess the public transportation is better? If we went with the day trip route I'd really like to rent a moped (typical tourist) or bikes.

Will look into the Anchor Inn and staying in Hyannis!

Abita - very excited for the trip, we think it'll be a lot of fun. I don't really have many questions right now. I've gone through your mega thread + the other threads on TD and pulled a lot of information from there. If there's something in particular that's missing, or a new restaurant open that we need to check out I'd love to hear it! Planning to stay in the Beacon Hill/Back Bay portion of the City.

The main area of Nantucket where the passenger ferry lets you off is not that big, they have some shopping places and food places
You can get around on bikes but to bike the whole island is a lot and some of the roads around are narrow and even not paved
We ate at Sandbar at Jetties Beach and the Cisco Brewery had some food trucks
Martha's Vineyard is a lot more spread out with better transportation around the island and more to do
I've never done the car ferry if you have a rental, it's a little more pricey to do that
Hyannis is where all the ferry boats leave from

The Chatham Fish Pier market is a neat experience as well on Cape Cod
The boardwalk in Yarmouth Cape Cod is pretty cool

Also, the Cape Cod Chip Factory tour is neat

All the little Cape Cod towns are fun to explore and just find what you like

I would separate out Maine as an entire trip by itself. We did Acadia down to Portsmouth NH and it was great. Boston has a lot to see and we hit Newport RI for a day trip, but wish I would have spent a night or two there and maybe added Nantucket and/or Cape Cod . Unless you are doing 2 full weeks, I would not do Maine and Boston together.

I would highly recommend Newport RI being that close from cape
Also could hit the patriots hall of fame in fox borough Gillette stadium

Maine is definitely another trip

Thanks for the recs! We’ve looked heavy into staying on MV but I think right now we’re leaning towards staying on the Cape and making a day trip to one (or maybe both) of the islands.

I’ve seen Newport RI mentioned a few times, will definitely look into it. It doesn’t seem to far out of the way.

I agree with y’all that Maine should be a separate trip and that’s what we plan to save it for. Sounds like an incredible trip!

I’m currently up here in Marlborough for Thanksgiving, took a ride to Newport on Friday but it got dark very quickly and didn’t get to walk the cliffs and see the mansions, will definitely do this the next chance we get to visit.

How was Thanksgiving up there?

I understand it may not be beach weather, but is it worth going late May and early June?

I hate the summer crowds and my peak business is summer so I try to travel around that. Would love to make a trip to Boston and the NE soon but not sure when the best time is with kids around a school schedule and not peak summer?

Thanksgiving was great, flew into Logan Thursday midday with no problems and wasn’t as crowded as I expected. Weather was cold though, stayed in Marlborough where it got right at about freezing every night, Friday night experienced a bit of snow. Spent Saturday at the BC/Wake Forest football game and froze. It’s weird up here how it seems to start getting dark earlier than expected. Each evening we were thinking it was about 9pm but it was actually only 6ish.

I hate this time of year for that exact reason.
