Bump for any recent updates from this. I am going in September.

Cape Cod was great.

We stayed in Harwich at the Winstead Inn. It was nice, but we'd prolly stay somewhere else if we went again.

Went to an Orleans game - nice park and it was packed. Literally, the first person I see walking up to the field is wearing an LSU shirt, so we talked for a bit.

We ate at Brax one night. The food was great, but it was packed and hot as frick in there, but it's because it was really hot that week and their little A/C units can't keep up.

Ate at Buca's Tuscan Roadhouse another night. My favorite meal and the A/C was working great. That said, a lady passed out in the main dining room and the paramedics were called, so had to wait for them to load her in the bus before we could leave. Interesting.

Ate at "Land Ho" in Orleans after the baseball game and that was perfect for what it was. Local spot that was busy and a good atmosphere. Had a cheeseburger club that hit the spot.

We went to Nantucket one day - it was great. Walked around, did some shopping, and had lunch at "or, The Whale". It was fine.

You actually just helped me prevent booking the same hotel. I was looking at the rooms just now.

Thanks for the food recommendations. Any recommendations on places/areas rather than Winstead? My wife and I really like to walk around quaint areas, shop, and eat. Beach isn’t a must but comfortable furnishings would be great.

Thanks Rummy

If that’s what you’re interested in, definitely hit edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket for a day. Plymouth is just north of the cape and has all of that too.

You can also take the ferry to Ptown from Plymouth; only 16 miles via water and avoid the long cape drive if the timing makes sense.

If you do spend any time upper cape, try to hit the Trading Post Lounge and get a bar pizza.. bar pizza is a cultural thing on the south shore/cape and folks travel to get one at TPL.

Cap, It wasn't bad...we just likely wouldn't stay there again.

A good feature was that it has a sister property that is on the beach and you can hangout at the beach property if a guest at the Inn. It was also a good value - I think the Inn was a shade over $400 p/night, but others we looked at were $700+ p/night, so that one worked.

Nice and thanks. I actually saw a few rooms at the Inn for less than $300 per night for when we are there. Appreciate the reply.

The wife and I decided sort of last minute to take a family vacation to Boston/Cape Cod the first week of June (1st-7th). Figured I would add to this most recent Cape Cod thread that came up in the search rather than making a new one.

We are thinking of staying in Boston for 3 nights June 1st-3rd. No plans yet other than catching a Red Sox game. Any recommendations on best seats in Fenway and where to get tickets? I was looking at MLB.com and tickets seem to be reasonable.

From Boston we plan to rent a car and drive to Cape Cod and stay for 3 nights June 4th-7th. We are considering either a VRBO in Chatham or maybe the Winnstead Inn which I have seem recommended a few times here. Any advice on if a VRBO or staying at an Inn/Hotel would be better?

We would likely drive up and down the island exploring and figure it out from there. Nothing major planned and just enjoy the sights/beaches/little towns. I have seen traffic on the island can get bad. Should this be a big issue in early June? We would definitely want to do a whale watching tour as well so one day we would drive all the way up to Provincetown and I would hate for that to turn into a traffic nightmare of a day.

Question on flights. There are 2 nonstop options on our travel dates flying with Delta or JetBlue. I have never flown JetBlue but they are much much cheaper than Delta. Is JetBlue known as a discount airline? Is it a get what you pay for type of thing? Im just tying to understand why they are so much cheaper and do not want to be booking a Spirit Airlines type of airline.

I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks.

I’ve taken JetBlue direct from New Orleans to Boston several times. I like it. We otherwise fly American and try to upgrade to first class if it’s not too pricey. JetBlue doesn’t have first class but you can do the more space option. Pretty roomy and you can get free booze if that’s your thing.

As for the RedSox, I defer to others like Abita. Staying in Boston I would do hotels in either Back Bay/Copley or there are a couple places right by the North End which is what I prefer. Wife likes the Back Bay shopping though. Saltie Girl for the chowder.

As to the Cape, traffic depends on when in June you go versus the local school calendar. They get out later than the schools in Louisiana so summer gets going a bit later. For places to stay, the Winstead has two locations, one in Harwich and one in Harwich Port. Never stayed at either. One in Harwich Port was like two minutes from my folks place. Brax has good bar food. Sundae School has best ice cream ever. Go early as it can be a shite show depending on time of year.

Chatham is an option too and one of my all-time favorite towns. Chatham Wayside Inn is nice location. Chatham Bars Inn is great but pricey. Great veranda for drinks and meals. Right by fish pier too which is where they make my wife’s absolute favorite lobster roll. Never did VRBO.

Provincetown is manageable. I’m not one for the whale watch tours due to motion sensitivity. But they are great from what I hear.

Jealous as Boston and the Cape are wonderful places. Enjoy your visit.
